My Nexus 5X just turned itself off last night. It will not charge or power on at all now. I've tried various fixes to try and power it up but nothing works so is this the bootloop issue even though it will not boot? The only thing that showed up was the white Google logo after holding the power button for about a minute but then it goes off after about 10 seconds.

I know that it's an issue with the phone and that people are getting refunds/repairs. However, I bought the phone though MM here just under 2 years ago so I assume that the seller would have to initiate this as I think they bought it from Amazon.

All my stuff gets backed up daily so not too bothered about losing anything. Hardest thing for me will be to remember which apps I had installed :)

Same here. If you need to get stuff off it, put it in the freezer for a while - Worked for me.

How long did you leave it in there for? Photos and SMS are backed up but I need to check what's on my google authenticator and I think I've got my WoW and SWTOR apps on there which need de-authorising. It can be done without getting in but more of a pain.

It's 3 weeks out of warranty and LG want £169 to repair it so I know where they can put the phone :)

I'm suprised they want to charge you, mine was 3 years old and they done it for free. Also done it a second time earlier this year. Which was the end of the phone for me.

I actually left it in the freezer & plugged my laptop in & pulled the stuff out from there.I would leave it for 10 mins then try it.

Hah yet another nexus 5x suffering the terminal boot loop fail, seriously disappointed with LG, they should recall them or fix them for free, given this seems to affect probably every single one made.

Fortunately I got a full refund on mine as I bought it sim free through Amazon and it was within its 2 years.

I sent a sarcastic email back to LG after initially contacting them, about how pleased I was with Amazon's customer service and how it meant I could put the money towards a new phone, but did specify it wasn't an LG phone.

I contacted the seller and he got in touch with Amazon. They fobbed him off though as the phone's a couple of weeks outside it's warranty, not sure there's anything I can do at my end as I didn't order it.

Yea I think after 2 years, you are probably out of luck. Just don't ever buy anything made by LG again, I won't.

The seller tried his luck again and this time Amazon agreed to have it sent for repair. Sent it off today so will wait and see what comes back. I won't be buying from LG again though that's for sure.

AHH good gews man, you got lucky, although from my research I think it's common for them to fail again.

It'll void whatever warranty (if any) the rebuild comes back with, but may be worth unlocking the OEM bootloader mode in your android settings and allowing usb interfacing, but it's all explained far better than I can on the following link:

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x-bootloop-fix-boot-phone/amp/

Basically you gotta do it before the phone bricks itself otherwise the fix won't work. Another thing is it'll gimp performance.

HI all,

I have had something similar to me today, it was on 60% charge this morning, then it froze, tured off, tried to turn it on, you had the google screen with some weird display, turned off, then tried to turn on a few more times google screen, then off, then nothing.

It was up to date but was pending 1 patch install (security updates) I have tried vol down and power button for 10 secs.

The phone maybe out of warrenty as purchased over 18 months ago I think,

Will they sort out the a replacement board if its gone free?

Same happened to me a couple of months ago. I tried the freezer trick which did allow it to switch on for about 5 seconds but that was all I got so no chance to download anything off it.

If the phone goes to LG for repair, do you get it back blank or do they manage to transfer everything across?

There is a lot of talks about LG extending the warrenty to 30 months although this is specific to US and the boot looping issues.

UK apparently is 2 years which I think is completely unfair. I am 3 months out of the 2 year warrenty it was purchased direct through EE, the first guy at LG i spoke to said he maybe able to waiver repair, the second person said I would have to pay despite the internet clearly showing evidence that this is a common fault.

Is there anyway to get them to sort this FOC?

Device was boot looping this morning as mentioned will not turn on at all now

Do you guys have any evidence that I could take to LG and press this up against them, as they are refusing and want to charge, if I can get evidence that LG have been helping other consumers within the UK free of charge when they are outside warrenty as mine is only just out. I think I could possibly argue the case a bit more. At the moment they have been saying they do not do free of charge repairs over the two year period, just discounted at £89, if I have to pay then I'll reluctantly give in however I feel it's a little unfair given reports online
