Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

You guys are giving too much importance to the lack of competition.

Nvidia doesn't just compete with AMD, they compete with their own products.

I'm sure most people stay loyal to a brand, the people they'll sell 2070/80s to are those who have Maxwell and Pascal, so the fact that "there's no competition" doesn't apply.
How naive can you be? They don't need to compete with themselves (in the consumer space anyway) because their cards are still selling very well and they have huge market share.

Also, name a single industry that thrives without competition.

These cards have a short life before 7nm GPUs at the end pf next year, so if Nvidia want a full line up they will get released pretty quickly.

Hmm, that's just got interesting for me if true. If we get a 1080ti successor this year then I probably won't be able to resist... Depending on the performance lift, obviously.

"priced similar". That's like saying I'm similar to Brad Pitt as we're both white and male.

I think we can pretty much guarantee that it'll be at least £599 for the 2080.

Naive?
He's actually right on that. Turing is competing for mind share of those who also have Maxwell and Pascal cards to upgrade. The cards are marketed and made available to everyone who has a PC.

In the time since the launch of the 1000 cards we could have almost had three generations of cards. 75% performance gain over this time frame is not that much to expect. Savy?

We could have almost 3 generations of cards? What? Who decided that 7 months is a generation in the world of Graphic cards? You? By that reckoning Vega 64 should have been 75% faster than the FuryX, the 580 should have been almost 50% faster than the 480. They weren't.

You know it doesn't work like that, in the graphic card world a generation isn't a set length of time.

I'm 75% over this length this of time is easily realistic. You haven't said anything yet.
I have and it is super clear, you just don't want to acknowledge it.

You are unable to apply to same expectation and logic to AMD as you are to Nvidia. Why do you expect 75% improvement from Nvidia but not AMD?

Just answer this is. Where the 25% improvement from RX 480 to the RX 580 which is what is expected in that time frame according to you? Bet you cannot ;)

Maybe. But perhaps they have leveled up their milking strategy which is not quite apparent yet? :p

That's what I am worried about!! :p At least before they gave us a reasonably priced Ti card when compared to the Titan and x80 cards. Now I think they might just charge full whack for all cards and there won't be any price drop until the next generation of cards appear.
