Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Only if you game at 60hz
Dunno, a 1070 Ti is serving me well at 1440P 144hz and g-sync. I've used a TXP before too. If I can keep the desire for shiny under control it'll be good for another year+ I reckon. But like other moaners here :D, I'll no doubt buy something at some point when the new cards land, even though I won't need it

It's greed. You can make money and keep shareholders and customers happy without rinsing them. No one is saying companies shouldn't make a profit but come on, can anyone honestly defend Nvidia here? We may even be in the situation where the 2080ti comes in at nearly double the previous gen version, for significantly less than double the power.
Then you don't buy it. If enough dont buy it the price is reduced. Supply and demand keeps pricing "fair" for the majority.

I'm just saying the new games coming September wont run on max at 1440/144 , if you don't mind big fluctuations or turning details down that's fine. Old article but 1070 non ti can barely maintain 75fps in ultra for bf1. https://www.gamersnexus.net/game-bench/2652-battlefield-1-graphics-card-benchmark-dx11-vs-dx12
I like to give an alternative view. To that I'll just say, is it a poorly optimised game? So the answer to poorly optimised games is that we demand top end hardware but then moan at the company that produces the hardware re: prcing, not the developer of said games? :D Just a thought.
One could even say that maybe both NV and AMD are being stitched up by game developers putting out unoptimsed games hoping NV and AMD can throw more hardware at it and the focus is on them when that hardware comes at a price. Not saying I believe this but who knows? Alternative opinion anwyay

A FTW3 please EVGA or if not a nice Lightning please MSI.

£1500 for the ti I reckon. And you have to walk to OCUK to pick it up yourself while a Nv rep rides on your back. Nothing else will do for the Negative Nancies. :D

My thoughts are if 7nm isn’t too far away and no-ones going to be using ray tracing for at least a few years... a 2nd hand 1080ti from EVGA will suit my needs at 1440p/144hz perfectly. Just need to find one with a nice EK block on it and i’m golden.

I think Nvidia should be giving you £1500 if it meant having to walk into Stoke to pick up from OcUK. You'd need the money to pay for hospital bills due to being attacked by all the monkey dust addicts :D

Lol I wish OCUK would open a branch dahn sarf. I'd be afraid of Ryan Shawcross going in studs up out of nowhere visiting stoke. ;)

Haha takes me back to when i picked up one of my first ocuk parts, i think it was the original Athlon. I was expecting some grand palace and it was this dirty garage type building on an industrial estate. I'm sure they've come a long way since then!
Also, I'm feeling old.

Just about to put 1kg of lean moose strips into a sweet Sriracha marinade - will be ready for making jerky with come Monday so I no longer have to chew my fingers to the bone waiting for the launch...

That's a little disingenuous. Massively high prices isn't the fault of AMD. Whether they could keep up or not, this is entirely down to Nvidia extracting the urine. They keep moving cards down a power bracket while rising the price up a bracket. AMD won't stop them doing that, they'll just increase their prices to match Nvidia's; we've seen it before. Also, it's not like people will suddenly go red after years of being green just because AMD release a faster and cheaper product.

This whole situation is greed. Greed from Nvidia and greed from consumers for their products. Only one of those things can people change, if they really want to (but we all know they don't).

I don't see how the consumer could be blamed. It's a simple concept: gaming is an important passion > How do I make the most of it on PC? > Right now is Nvidia. I mean ideally while people grow up and go through different generations they should also be able to afford more expensive stuff.

£800+ to play console ports and zero Ray Tracing enabled games on the market. Why are people buying this again?

Having spent a lot of time with my son's PS4 Pro over the last week, I'm happy with my money going on my PC. It was great, but not my PC. Also ACO gave my current 1080ti a run for its money at 3440x1440 with high setting so should be a nice increase for the new AC.

For a decade was AMD with the better product and price, yet you still bought Nvidia even when their products was inferior....So spare us...

Over the years i've had as many amd cards as nvidia. What i've bought over the time is what was the best deal for the features/performance for the budget i had at the time..
Vega has been priced reasonably close if not higher then the comparable Nvidia gpus over the last year or so which makes a mockery of you trying to say its Nvidia buyers allowing prices to be where they are. Both vendors are as greedy as the other IMO
