Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Only issue is state tax is not included, so difficult to get a like for like comparison
I was referring to how much Nvidia are actually charging for them. Tax has nothing to do with that. Most people will end up blaming nvidia for the price if it is high. But all one has to do is look at what they charged last gen for the cards in dollars and then compare with the new gen. Then you can work out who is to blame if price goes up.

The price will go up for us, as our pound is weaker now than it was when the 1080 came out. But no doubt when people see the higher price they will not think brexit, they will think nvidia are charging us more.

I seem to remember retailers selling the FE higher than the official price. I think OCUK and others were doing £729 when it was supposed to be £699? Maybe I've got that wrong but £800-£900 roughly, assuming it is about that with the state of the pound, should be no real surprise for a 2080ti. I'm not saying it's a fair price, I don't know, but we seem to be going on like it's a shock. £729 for an 1080ti FE + crap £ = 20890ti ain't going to be no cheaper.

Just expect the worst. NVIDIA seem to be under the illusion there is no market cap at the moment, but that's why nobody is interested in the HDR panels vendors are putting out, because of the ridiculous tax NVIDIA is putting on them. I still can't believe someone sat down and agreed that £1,700 for a 27" monitor is not a joke (actually, closer to £2,100)

bit of a dull question but has anyone thought of what is going to be cost of a nvlink, the new cards are said to use it, correct me if wrong but no mobo manufactures are going to bundle one of those as they are quite expensive alone, do you think nvidia will offer you one at a cut down price if you order 2 cards or will they be money grabbers and make you pay full wak for one?
SLI is near dead, one 2080ti will do, if not worry about getting another after a few months, spend 1k and be sad you don't have enough performance yet, don't spend 2k and be sad it only works in a few games :P

The ASUS is a crazy £2300! I might have had a dip at a reasonable £1700. ;)

+1 to this...

Also the ridiculous price of PC Components in general right now is forcing a few of my friends / colleagues to abandon PC gaming altogether and go full console mode. Most of them have 4K tv's and are duped by the "4K Gaming on a Console" thats bandied about by Sony and Microsoft... a couple of them have traded in PS4 for XboneX for the better 4K experience, coupled with the gamepass etc i can see the allure of it all.

Seems consoles are catching up with PC's in horsepower, obviously its not quite that simple, but often console games are as good looking as their PC counterparts, might not have the FPS to match but if your sat on a 4K @60hz TV and getting some hybrid resolution between 1080p and 4K and hitting 40+ FPS most people wont ever really know the difference when sat across the room etc.

Im tempted to plunge on the 2080ti and offload my Freesync screen, will probably be the last GPU i buy however, as i fully expect myself to go full console when the next gen come around. As i see it, those Gamepass type things you have on Xbox etc are just too good value, especially if gaming time is limited, family, work, commitments etc.

What I'm getting fed up off (in addition to the high prices) is the way Nvidia always rig the performance, the x70 is always on par with the previous x80ti and ~10% faster than the previous x80, and it's been this way for 6+ years now, it's boring/predictable, I would like to see another disruptive generation like the 8800.

You need a die shrink for that.
twice the transistors, its what old days did to gpu speed increase.
7nm and whatever the race will end up is making it difficult to increase speed on the same nodes.
innovations are needed to get us pass the nm shrinkage speed boosts.

Biltong is a South African dried meat that most closely resembles jerky, even though it's really nothing like it (jerk is far nicer IMO). Chili would be the flavour I would imagine.

I know they say you shouldn't wish your life away but I really want today to hurry up. I need to see the lay of the land!

This is a Sweet Sriracha flavour marinaded for 30ish hours and dried for 11 hours. Mostly brown sugar, sriracha sauce, liquid smoke, various peppers (including chilli), roasted garlic, rosemary, thyme and a few different salts (including curing salt). Am eating a piece on the train right now as I head into Stockholm :)

The 2080/2080ti is likely out of my price range, but I’m looking forward to seeing what the 2060 and the 2070 is capable off, and of course the respective price tags.

I was so close to buying a vega64 only last week, hopefully my patience will pay off

I am ready ... this stuff is hotter than an AMD GPU!

Wimp !!!!

They give that stuff to kids in South Africa instead of sweets.:D

This isn't from South Africa, it is home made and as such I could make it as hot as I wanted to. I said it was hot, I didn't say I don't like it or couldn't handle the heat :)

Plus I wasn't aware Moose roamed the Kalahari ;)

There are plenty of animals around that they do use, Ostrich is very good.:)
