Why though? Maybe you mean for certain variants with the best coolers. But I will be surprised if the cheap basic ones cannot be had for £800 or even less.
That's the typical launch of these cards with new features "look at what this can do", "ok and we'll be seeing that in games when exactly?" "Umm moving right along."
From both amd and nvidia some features basically only see the light of day in tech demo's for the most part, occasionally you get lucky and a handful of games ends up supporting them.
Was the same for the 1080 launch, nvidia showing the card rendering a static scene from a game, while boasting about the clocks and how cool the card was, conveniently neglecting to mention until much later the card was heavily overclocked and the cooler was on full tilt wailing like a banshee. They gave a really misleading impression when they did that like they had got core clocks up massively while reducing thermals drastically all the while using pretty low power.
Ooh ooh., Brexit, the pound against the dollar, supply and demand, the guy in the rickshaw that delivers the cards to the boat wanting a pay rise, umm meteor insurance in case he was unfortunately struck down by one while bringing his inventory to the boat, and an additional price bump as he had to repair 2 punctures on the way there.
This is why I prefer using dollar price as it gets rid of all the above when guessing what nvidia will actually charge.

New price does not always mean that and depends on supply. Miners I don’t think will be a issue unless there is something special about these cards that make them mine much faster, even then there won’t be much demand as mining earnings are way way down.
The same folk now offering a vega 'deal' were selling them for 900 quid with a straight face, oh dear.
Sounds like that poor guy has it far worse than us, we’re just complaining about the prices of luxury items. And yeah Brexit will be the worse thing to happen since WW2 so i’d just buy the card you want now ‘cos who knows how much you’ll be paying for everything else next year.

It's not even that. Us Brits are so special that Nvidia have a "special" MSRP for us.
Remember the 1080 had a MSRP of $599 for the US? With the exchange rate plus VAT back then, it should had been around £480 plus may be little extra for the other parties involve in the supply chain; however Nvidia love us so much, they have gone out of their way to set a MSRP of £530 for the GTX1080 for the UK
At launch though, the 1080 was in the price range of between £580~£650, with the exception for the very poor quality "joker card" at £530.Brexit or not, Nvidia would would try to force their way onto us without lub either way

Just watched a bit of the sigraph presentation, always funny when little Jen does a GPU vs CPU comparison like its even remotely valid. "This quadro can do 10 giga rays per second, a cpu with a bunch of cores can only do a few hundred k a second".

The RRP was cheaper in every tier,
It's just VEGA is so damn fast in mining so the pricing went up as retailers gouged. VEGA sold out as soon in stock for a long while..
It's good that Nvidia will finally hopefully beat the other tiers though, taken them 2 years but at least they have had the flagship 1080 Ti spot these past 2 years.
Pricing is scary though !

At the price i bough the Vega 64 Red Devil it's a decent buy. Got it in the OCUK weekend deal for £450 with £100 worth of games. Mining ruined the pricing of gaming cards for a long time especially on the AMD side Will be interesting to see the price/performance on this new Nvidia release since mining has dropped way off.

No that's incorrect. There were six or seven cards available in the £530-570 range not including the clown.

I believe these FC5 are old results, back when FC5 was first released. Because just like Wolf 2 and Hitman, NVIDIA improved their fps in these AMD optimized titles considerably:
