Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

This is the only point worth considering. It's a hobby part and as such your only considerations should be;

a) Can I afford it?
b) Will I enjoy it?

I've a friend who has just spent £600+ on 2 statues from the Blizzard web store. He hasn't obsessed over if they are value for money or if the previous ones were cheaper. He bought them to do nothing other than sit on a shelf and he is happy as a pig in ****

If the 2080ti makes you squeak with excitement when you fire up your games at 4K or whatever - why worry about the price?? Life's too short and you can't take it with you.

Can we drink whiskey together soon

So much this. If you can afford it and its not causing problems to buy it then go ahead. Literally all I look at when making big purchases and it does me right and always has. If you enjoying yourself then you cant put a price on it.

Really don't get this rational. I could afford to pay €200 for the next AAA title i want. Doesn't mean there's any justification to actual pay it. Enjoyment or no. It's that type of mentally that has us assuming the position as it is.

Remember guys, this is the guy who swore *never* to buy a nVidia card again a month ago. What an example to us all...

:D

Easy to take things out of context, also who is trying to be an example? I stopped buying Nvidia when they introduced that back hander vendor program. Then they closed the program down due to backlash, just like mine. I buy once again, objective achieved xD

No need to thank me.

When people make a stand on the internet, it's gets stuff done ! You maybe don't understand? I get that some people are blinded by brand bias, therefore will pretend to enjoy being bent over on things like price etc.

But again I am making a stand and will not pay over the odds. Way way over the odds.

Again no need to thank me, just keep criticizing for loz xD.

Each to their own, got no problem with people buying a £1000+ for a Ti GPU, just for me that is to steep, morally*ethically*financially*principled. I am allowed an opinion too xD

Just had a look, £399 for a statue! Of course not everyone wants them so nobody gives a damn about the pricing. The fact that NV card pricing generates so much discussion/debate/argument is exactly why they can push the pricing :). People see them as a necessity.
I wouldnt's be surprised, yes I would :D, if they come in lower priced now given all this talk of pricing before they've been released, so everyone rushes out to buy one thinking they're getting a relative bargain (vs all the price predictions).
Probably completely wrong but that's my contrarian thinking kicking in :).

Jenson should talk about $3k during the presentation then at the end say "for one year only we're letting you al have a Ti for $1500" (by which time they may be superseded). Everyone loves a bargain.

That's the point :). If you can justify it you buy it. If you can afford a 200euro game but cannot justify it, you won't buy. It's not just affording something it's whether you can justify it too. If it's a hobby and you can afford it and justify it you'd buy. A top end GPU can be justified by some because of the 2year+ top end performance in many games. Games along can be what these days? £40-£50?

Does anybody else find it odd that they're releasing the Ti model at the same as the none Ti model? It seems very not like Nvidia. . .

I'm with you. If we pay then we support it.

£650 is my limit. And depending on what that gets me in the pecking order I may start enjoying secondhand cards.

Yeah, I have got to really try hard now and not support this pricing madness. I think for my needs (Mainly VR) a 2060 or 2070 will be enough.

But I do not like the way this is going. Pricing is crazy. People will blame AMD, people will blame Nvidia. But some responsibility lies on the consumer? If we buy at these prices then they will keep doing it.

Not really. It works within reason and that reason is the size of your wallet. Although 10 quid is 10 quid, to some it holds less value than others and people put value into enjoyment too, this will also be different from person to person.
