Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Could you imagine the furore if AMD had just done that presentation?
True. Some even ripping their clothes off on the other discussions, demanding AMD to drop the price of Vega 64 to £300, because is "old tech".

Yet nobody has commented on the Saturday benchmarks showing Titan Xp getting beaten 4K HDR gaming by the Vega 64, and in some AAA games by 10%.
Clearly people are blind somehow. Of have the memory of goldfhish, or as someone put it, that are getting milked by Nvidia shows exactly their intellect when comes to GPUs.

Rather disappointed (read very disappointed)

I wanted to trawl through benchies tonight with a cup of coffee

The price doesn’t bother me, if it delivers insane performance over current gen it’s justifiable. Progress costs money

But the lack of solid info is a dissapointment

Jen seems like a jerk aswell

It's going to be the dogs danglies in ray traced stuff, but that will probably be about it. If it was all singing all dancing he would have made a much bigger deal about it instead of purely focusing on the RT stuff.

The whole thing was more what he didn't say than did.

People get excited about a $900 TR CPU which when you add the Motherboard and quad channel RAM tax will cost about the same price as the AIB versions of this yet baulk at paying the same for a GPU?
It's just HEDT for GPUs but they made the mistake of not calling it a Titan maybe!
Still plenty of cheaper GPUs and CPUs so no need to panic.
As you were.

Unfortunately you don't seem to understand that the Vega are actually much more expensive to make due to the use of HBM2 memory and bigger chip, and the profit margin on them are really tiny comparing to 1070/1080.

Nvidia is on the other hand kept on pushing the envelope further and further purely out of greed because they know they can.

Hmmm... I only care about the price of the product and the FPS it gives me.

I'm in the market for a new card as my 1070 is struggling to run games in 4K at high settings.

Maybe could go for a 2080 or cheap 1080 ti, don't think the 2070 is enough of a step up. Would like to be on next gen but it's getting so expensive these days. Will wait to see how they do in the reviews.

It turns out my 980ti I bought pretty much on release has been a superb buy :)

These cards are just too much £££s, maybe my view will change when benchmarks come out to play though!

1 shrink possible until we reach the singularity and AI takes over and makes better tech than we could ever dream of

We're still scratching the surface of the quantum realm too, I think it's possible we can go smaller and infinitely faster defying conventional laws of physics
Beam me up, Scotty ;)

Yup been saying it myself for the past few years now but people just refuse to accept it.

As usual, the only ones to blame though is the customers........

Yup I remember mate, there was a few of us back then saying it and rest just laughed and said no way. Well they are again re-badging and increasing the prices again.. Then to add more insult they present the hardware for gaming and sell it to us as scientific equipment and the last 5 minutes of the presentation add anything to do with gaming but no benchmarks... Says it all right there and some fake graph saying 10 times faster than Pascal LOL... Faster because wait Pascal has no RTX hardware in it... Like comparing a card with PhysX and one without... They are taking the Micky and the legality of their statements ... Anyways I hope Nvidia's share holders are getting ready for a ride.

Also by the time RTX titles make true use of RTX we will be on 2280/2380 ... Like with PhysX and the Gimpworks.. This just all smells of making gamers pay for technology that has no real use right now for gaming but aimed at other industries.

Then learn to not get involved in each other’s finances lol. Mine accepts it and I accept her spending.
Well I'm scraping 125pm for a mortgage and have 200 spare per month, I don't think saving 200PM for an RTX is good use of savings. Priorities and that lol. I'm not as ambitious as you that's why you can splash the money on sports cars and GPU's.

One fin
Why does the 2080 Ti PCB have 12 memory chips?

Could we be looking at an upcoming Titan card?
Yeah, I want a new Titan X. Ti's are for commoners :D.
Joking aside, there's bound to be one coming along I think, will be surprised if not.
Obviously some of the £ is for the RTX stuff that some of us probably wont need for a long while. I don't buy that many games so can see this time next year I probably still wont own a game that uses it. For the present time the Pascal cards still look pretty darn good, if for example the 2080 Ti is only about 20% faster than the 1080 Ti with current games. If buying new you'd go with the latest but current 1080 Ti /TXP owners can probably do well keeping what they have

luckily i was in same boat got a bargain gtx980ti. hopefully benchmarks be along soon, bit mysterious why no benchmarks at launch.
