Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

This actually shows how bad Ray Tracing is, you don't get reflections like that in real life.

I was thinking that when I saw it (I've several photos of animals where I can see reflected what they are looking at) - but the game reflection can only be as good as what it is reflecting, and by what I saw the fire that was being reflected was not the best to begin with. Jury still a little out.
It does, after all, 'just work'.

I said it was going to be a grand. I said it! Everyone dismissed my talk as the raving delusions of a mad man. I will accept all your apologies now
Good call. I personally did not think they would take it this far. Looks like they have figured that as the Titans sold so well at that price, people would be willing to pay the same for a 2080Ti.

Very disappointing to see those prices, but at the same time knowing how greedy they are I am not shocked.

I am hoping that there is a link between the prices they went for and the size of these huge die’s and that we will get better prices with 7nm in a year or so. Also hope that their sales will be considerably smaller so they get the message.

As per usual, it is another nvidia gamework effect, which is overdone and in return looks worse and will "more than likely" cause huge FPS drops.

Ray tracing isn't bad, it's responsible for practically all pre-rendered vfx and animation. What you're looking at is just bad use of it.

I have a genuine feeling the 2080ti will smash current gen Ti but I cannot make any decisions with that sort of money until I know for sure.

That and I’d be without a card till middle of September

I’m out for now

Probably a smart decision tbh.... and I was even eye'ing your Ti this morning on the MM. Without benchmarks we have no way to see raw power increase.

how have they? whats the problem?
If PC gaming prices keep skyrocketing, then PC gamers will leave the platform for consoles. It's obvious.

It's already happening, btw, before today. 10 series pricing was bad enough to do that already.

But these 20xx prices .... LOL ... those prices are not even close to the kind of money the avg gamer wants to spend on a single component.

I’ve had loads of enquiries now after this but even though I’m happy to give nvidia my dough I need to see some solid tangible information with a coffee
