Or the GTX480......Feels like a very strange launch for a card, the last time I felt like this was when the HD2900XT came out with a new arc which was a flop.
So the 2080 is a hot card?

Saying you are going to move to a console because a company releases a premium GPU at a very high price is like saying in response to the launch of a new £300K Ferrari that you are going to start taking the train; A total knee jerk reaction.
Nope, you have missed the context here. Not exactly... If you're using this analogy it only works if you say previous Ferrari's were £230k and you were waiting on the new one expecting it to be the same, only to find it is £300k on release.
Why why why chase ray tracing, I feel infuriated and intrigued at the same time.
Yes I get they want to progress and push new tech to the PC market, that isn't a bad thing at all it's what still keeps interest in PC gaming for years to come, but I feel like we didn't need this tech as of yet, surely they could have just focused on making a card which truly smashes the last generation.
I may be proven wrong with reviews but I have a sneaky feeling I won't be.
Hardware Ray Tracing exists 5 years now, while RadeonRays 1 & 2 support CUDA programming and is open.
Yet Nvidia decided to create their own tech, lock it on specific hardware (RTX 2080, 2080Ti and 2070) and gimpworks.
You've bought into pre-release speculation as it is rated at 250W.If you see Nvidia posting 285W TDP (base clocks), it will run VERY HOT.
Cause some like ME like something more than MORE FPS ??Why why why chase ray tracing, I feel infuriated and intrigued at the same time.

I'm glad to see someone else gets this as I've espoused it a few times and people don't seem to grasp it.They've capped any improvement to normal in-game performance by giving over so much of the chip to specialised AI and RT functions - much like it's annoying that so much of a CPU is given over to a iGPU that's hardly ever used. This might make them vulnerable to AMD catching them up - just like has happened to CPUs.
Sorry mixed it with the 2080Ti.You've bought into pre-release speculation as it is rated at 250W.
Analogy doesn't work because road speed limits aren't going up each year.Nope, you have missed the context here.
Ferrari are still selling the old one at £230K but have added a new model which is generally faster on the road and also has extra features that make it dramatically faster under certain conditions.
The choice is yours, the older £230k car has got no slower and if that suits your needs then buy that.
To say you are now going to take the train because Ferrari have released a faster and more expensive car is facile.
If people take their expectations too seriously and throw a tantrum because they aren't met then that is just a fit of the ego.
Cause some like ME like something more than MORE FPS ??
Thats why I play in 3D cause 2d gaming looks poor to ME.... 7 years so far.
Ill put it in perspective...... Titan Pascal can ALMOST maintain 60fps in 3D@1080p hehe
This raytracing looks FANTASTIC !!! Finally some jump besides resolution and fps
BTW. YOU and most wanted 50% more fps I wanted SOMETHING NEW and got it![]()

People buying very fast road cars can also use them for track days which is why I said "dramatically faster under certain conditions."Analogy doesn't work because road speed limits aren't going up each year.
Whereas games can/will get more demanding each year.
