Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

This really feels to me like a Trojan horse for Nvidia to try and make ray tracing ubiquitous in games so they can control the market. Turing won't be man enough to power it without sacrifices but if Nvidia have the monopoly it won't matter. It'd also mean they'd throw a spanner into the console market (if potential buyers won't buy a new console without ray tracing) which would probably end AMD as a GPU maker if they can do so.

All the while making gamers pay through the nose for the privilege.

No I am against unfounded speculation. Where members pretend they know. When they obviously don't..

It’s ok, according to last nights presentation Jenson has no idea either.

Does removing the cooler on the OCUK Ref card void warranty?

2080 Ti owners thread done, will do the 2080 one soon.
Just order 2x RTX 2080Ti FE and yeah it stung a lot - total cost 27998 SEK which is 3 065,48 USD (but free delivery - yay!). over 5k of that is VAT but even then that is a substantial premium -over- the USD price and they don't arrive until October...

Good luck to you! You're insane but I doff my hat.

You'll have to survive on moose jerky for a few years now as you'll be too poor to buy food again ;)

Well if a 1080ti runs the UE4 Infiltrator demo at 30fps ish and a 2080ti runs at 70fps ish then the gain is good but it all depends on if it was doing any kind of raytracing which is the big question which I haven't seen a answer.

I am not poor (I live in Sweden) and Moose meat is actually quite expensive. My existing rig is r9 390X my wife has 980Ti so we are in need of an upgrade - figured may as well take the leap and hope the benchmarks support the decision. If we start to see poor benchmarks before my cards arrive I can always cancel the order and if I see poor performance when it arrives, I have 2 weeks under distance selling regulations to send it back - so it is a leap but it at least has safety nets under it.

I wouldn’t buy anything but the 2080Ti without feeling disappointed but for £1000-1500 thats going to be extremely hard to justify. If it’s a fair bit quicker then I will consider it otherwise I’ll be keeping my 1080Ti for a bit longer.

Would be nice for a lot of games I’m playing on 4k and 1440p. Anything short of 50-60% faster then it’s a no from me.

Problem is I’m a little scared with the release of a full set of cards like this, will we see a full fat volta Titan for the same price in a few months time for another milking session?
