I'm sure nVidia will eventually have something like that for you, for a grand and a half.
Let’s hope not. Could buy a Titan now but refuse to pay that much just to play games. The current Ti pricing is nuts but I’ll stump up the cash for a new Ti just this once.

Tbf as a business it's a win-win situation, a LOT less spent on R&D whilst still beating the competition hands-down.
Yes, I wasn't suggesting price-parity or lower prices will happen - I think that's unlikely - but what I think may happen is we get a 1080 level card at a lower price by virtue of it being a "lower" card. For example, an 1160 or 1170.
Or at least that's my hope. If not, then it's off to the second-hand market for me, which should have fallen much further in the next 6-9 months. No way I can justify £700+ on a graphics card - that's twice the price of the PS4Pro I've been having so much fun with the last 12 months.

We may see a hike because of gddr 6 being 20% more expensive, I think in real terms production cost difference will be minor, but it’s a decent excuse for raising the rrp.
Consoles make a lot of sense for a lot of people, I’ll be using pc for as long as I can afford it.

Ain't it the third party sellers that are raising the GPU's to crazy prices
As there still listed for sale at the recommended release prices on NVidia website (IE £679 for a 1080ti with a Titan type cooler)...
Maybe? We’ve no idea what Nvidia are selling to AIBs. It’s more likely to me that AIBs are agreeing to purchase at higher prices because they know they’ll sell.
Meanwhile Nvidia is happy to maintain RRP because margins are higher direct to consumer and they’re still selling at launch price 2 years or so down the line.
Just my opinion of course.

Nice necro, but time doesn't actually change things here as the post you quoted was pointing out that shifting to 2000 instead of 1100 would be a big change in naming convention and break from the numbering system Nvidia had used since 2009.
And I was proven 100% correct as that is exactly wheat Nvidia has deliberately done they even commented on it stating they did it to show the difference between RTX and all before.

Nothing you said in your post was wrong though? They did break a naming scheme that was a decade old. But, we know why now, because they had to make a big jump in the numbers after the big jump in price.

Sorry, should have included my response from then aswell;
They've never done a 100's increment in a 1000's system before so its the same system they've been using for 16 years.

No, they changed their system when they moved from the 9 series to the 100 series cards(even though the 100 series were only OEM parts) They made a lot of changes, they moved the GTX etc from after the numbers to before the numbers. eg. The 9800 GTX before the change. GTX 280 afterwards. And it wasn't 1000 increments. It wasn't 9 thousand, eight hundred. It was nine, eight hundred. The first digit was the series, the last 3 digits were the model numbers.

I said it was more likely they'd go back to updating the thousand, first digit, he said first 2 digits beacause 11 comes after 10
Yes obviously 9800 is slightly different to 9080, but the end result is the same, actually saying 2080 is correct isn't more wrong than saying 1180 whatever reasoning you want to back peddle on
