Driving pet hates...

Nothing is worse than the '40 everywhere' drivers. My commute moves between villages that are 30/40, to NSL roads. Coming into a 30 village at 8am with school kids everywhere waiting for the bus? 40. Out onto the NSL road, clear, dry, good visibility straight road? 40.

So infuriating.

And it's bad when it's the other way around, you're in front, you get into a 30 village at 8am with school kids everywhere and they tail gate the crap out of you for doing 30. And the second it gets to NSL again they're left behind. **** OFF.

Probably one of my colleagues , always overtakes me breaking the speed limit, plus doing silly things like undertaking at roundabouts..

Yep, totally agree. Winds me up.

People not doing the speed limit and then breaking the speed limit in built up areas. Dashcam ****** accelerating on roundabouts to try get some pathetic footage after leaning on the horn for 10 seconds.

Also morons in 325 or 330 BMW's or Audi A5 S line who try and race you and then get butt hurt when you annihilate them in their 'expensive' cars. "should have bought the RS spec mate or M series".

People who seem to think a merge in turn is a right to block traffic from the lane, causing tailbacks that block roundabouts and junctions. These people normally try and block motorcycles from filtering.

HGV drivers ( I know they get a lot of flack most unjustified) pulling out at roundabouts knowing they will never get out in time causing people to come to a near or complete stop on the roundabout! Seems to be a definite mentality of you will stop for me because I'm way bigger! It's not a good roundabout and it's always busy and I can imagine they get frustrated at busy times not being able to make progress but seriously it's not okay to enter a roundabout and disrupt the flow of traffic already on it. It only takes one person not paying attention to run in to the side of the HGV.

^ big problem near our home. Slip road off the motorway and a busy roundabout means mr HGV often gets bored and enters the roundabout at his leisure.

I’ve stopped beeping them now because they are so arrogant and don’t care anyway.

New one today to add for me is people going the wrong way around mini roundabouts (as in cutting the corner).

Depends on the road layout, and the size of the hump tbh. I have no problem with going over the middle if it's safe to do so. There's one near us with a hump so slight that it makes no sense to go around it rather than just over it. There's another one near us with a massive hump that's offset to the roads joining it and if it's clear it's easier (and less bumpy as the junction is raised also) to go straight as if you're on the wrong side of the road.

If there's another vehicle there then obviously that's different.

We have one near us which isnt even humped, its just painted on the normal road surface lol.

It's often impossible to pull out on some busy roundabouts without having traffic on the island have to adjust their speed slightly. It's not a case of being ignorant it's just a case of their being too much traffic to pull out and not disrupt anyone, believe it or not something weighing up to 44t and over 50ft in length can't exactly make a brisk getaway.

I'm not defending drivers who just pull out blindly and cause drivers to nearly do an emergency stop, but we have no choice to take a safe gap when it appears, a bit of give and take from other road users is vital in cases where you merely have to adjust your speed until they've managed to clear the junction.

If someone is paying so little attention that they can't see a 50ftx15ft box right in front of them then they are an accident waiting to happen anyway so let them dig their own grave in that regard.

Going over it isn't the problem, it is the ones that literally cut the corner so much they don't even touch the white painted disc with their near side wheels and it is usually the drivers of the tiny eco-boxes.

There's a roundabout near my work, it's a massive warehouse/office space district.

Often HGVs barely slow for a major RA and just barrel out on to it, regardless of right of way. Hundreds of complaints to the police have yielded nothing.

This happened two days ago..

Manvers? If so what about the number of cars who cut up the inside of HGVs on that roundabout from the left turn only lanes because they are too impatient to wait, damned if we do and damned if we don't wait.

Yes. Whilst I agree there's bad drivers on both sides the standard of HGVs going down there is absolutely appalling. Particularly by anyone one of two companies.

I once had a Next tractor unit try and overtake me by using the right turn lane on the RA outside Capita.

But as I said, SYP don't want to know. They even drive past morons parked in the clearway and zigzag sections.
