Makes sense now why they didn't release the 2070 at the same time as the 2080ti and 2080........ it would have truly been a laughable card on release with lots of AIB cards presumably being priced at 1080ti levels (what with the FE version being £569) whilst offering distinctly sub 1080ti performance for any games available on release!

It would have gone down like a lead balloon sales wise!

Nvidia's going to let the 1080ti' stock clear for a bit longer before they foist that piece of overpriced silicon on us.... But it's got DEM RTX cores!..... Yes can't wait to see how it performs in RTX stuff with its not far of half the complement of RTX cores vs the already not looking to inspiring 2080ti! (36 vs 68 RTX cores)

The rtx lineup is gonna be a really weird one when its finally all out, realistically only 1 card is capable of the RT effects, that being the ti (and only at 1080), the rest have the cores but not the grunt to actually do much. Wouldn't shock me in the slightest if 2070 is reworked to disable the turing cores and the only 2 left with it enabled is 2080 and 2080ti.

I feel like this RTX stuff is being rushed in earlier than they would have liked, they would have preferred to have a full lineup offering good performance but as it is now thats not the case, and it's a few years off at the earliest. There's also the talk that turing is nvidia's vega, a "pro" card that has been shoehorned into being a gaming card, and as such doesn't have the performance needed to do what they're preaching.

That's the gist of it yes.

Why are people buying these cards and defending these prices?

There’s zero reason to get an RTX card right now and this release is the true definition of emperor’s new clothes.

Oh well, had they not went full retard on the TI pricing then this may well have been a storm in a teacup. But as it is....

The 2080 Ti is faster than anything else available and for some people that is enough to justify the purchase.

Yes the cards are very expensive but having said that we must respect other peoples purchasing decisions.

Indeed, I cant help get the feeling some are indirectly blaming those who buy expensive cards, or pay whatever nvidia asks, for the high price. Its their money and their choice. Really nobody is to blame for this situation, it is what it is. Hopefully when or if AMD release new cards that can compete with Nvidia then we might see more sensible prices. Intel did the very same thing when AMD was not competing but i get the feeling that both companies have started to figure out in general some segment are willing to tolerate higher prices. At some points basic economics of supply and demand will take place and market should readjust itself that is if the demand ever drops.

I would rather buy 2080Ti & £200 Chinese phone than apples new phone that can costs up to £1500:eek:
If i was Nvidia looking at how apples charges its zombies I would want some of that too:D

This is such a good point . I agree the 2080ti is ott expensive. But if any of the folk chastising the 20xx buyers directly have £600 phones then shame on them and their hypocrisy. :)

My last 3 phones have been under £130 but I have a 2080ti on order. Individual priorities and all that

We don't have to respect it. It's slowly killing PC gaming.

Off course you have to respect what people do with their own money, you don't have to agree but you can not dictate what they do.

And if it does end up killing PC gaming so be it.

For PC gaming to survive the industry need to offer software and hardware products that people want to buy at the right price points, it is not for the likes of me or anyone else to dictate to others what they should be.

Not this again, how is it killing pc gaming ? These cards are for extreme enthusiasts who want to game at 4k or play around with new RTX features. Every piece of tech aimed at 4k costs silly money for decent equipment (4k oled, dolby atmos amps and speakers, OPPO uhd players), this is a very niche segment which because of how versatile PC hardware and software is, is the reason this segment exists.

Majority of pc gamers are using cheap Ryzen/i5 systems with 1060s/580 gfx cards. This segment isn't going anywhere.

You can go on about consoles but you can do a lot more on a pc which some seem to forget.

I'm also hoping for competition.

Lets have a gen where Amd stomp all over Nvidia just to shake things up a bit. Stop this Nvidia monopoly on the ultra high end.

I dont care who i buy but lately it seems for ultimate performance Nvidia is the only choice and they know it. Hence the prices.

Problem I see the pricing will just keep increasing. What's the bet in 3 years the latest top ti card from nvidia will be nearer £2000. Anything beyond £500 for just a gaming gpu is nothing short of theft.
