It's made a lot of money, I think that classes it as a success.

Also PUBG isn't a typical FPS, it's a battle royale. Which other battle royale game has 3 or more maps?
CoD maps are teeny tiny in comparison.

i love this thread, it has produced some of the most random nonsense exchanges (to be fair i've been involved a good few of them) it really is better entertainment than GD sometimes

Absolutely its how GD used to be

(INSERT FORTNIGHT DANCE-MOVE HERE) owch my old aching back, I never mentioned success I mentioned lack of maps. PUBG is the only BR game roughly based on a common sense world its coming around for 2 years of life with 3 maps, not enough in my book.

I don't think a new map makes a whole bit of difference, to me specifically.
Yes, it would be fun to play on a new map. But I guarantee that not everyone here has fully explored the current maps to the ninth degree yet and have learned where the best ridges and hills are best to take a fight from. Don't get me wrong, I would like a new map - but I've still not learned both erangel and miramar properly yet. The maps are big enough to last years, since they're not like COD maps where its all close encounters.

Despite still enjoying it - some times this game does leave you speechless.....

Right at the start, landed, he appears to have no helmet and a level 1 vest.....Lets see what happens....

For FPS games maybe maps are the bread and butter, but what about BR games? Seems to be no evidence that maps are the bread and butter of BR games. I suspect Black Ops 4 will have multiple Deathmatch maps but probably only 1 BR map (unless that was just the beta). Maybe I'm wrong, maybe BlackOps and Battlefield will release with 10 BR maps.

I mean most racing games these days have 10s of cars, maybe over 100, you could say different cars are the bread and butter of racing games, but none of the BR games have that many.

That doesn't even look like a level 1 vest - just a leopard skin vest clothing. Helmet is irrelevant as you didn't hit anywhere near his head. Shotgun is normally pretty lethal at that range. First shot was half off. Did you watch deathcam and see how much health he had left? If you had reloaded straight away or switched to pistol you would have had them.

Go into my first game and try to walk only to find that the F4 key I use (its actually G3 on my logitech) is no longer bindable as used for emotes. Is there a way to bind it manually in a cfg file?

Well after 8 years my trusty gamecom plantronics headset has snapped after 1000s of tantrums and throws across the room ha, they were really good to be honest I could hear people coming very clear. What would you guys recommend? I see a lot of people are just using normal stereo headphones instead of an actual gaming headset.

Just did. LOL. Weird how this game went from what everyone wanted in early access, to pure incompetence, cheating, money grabbing and a pure sell out in just over a year. Devs should be ashamed of themselves tbh, not that they will be theyre laughing all the way to the bank.

Eventually got into a few games on Erangal/Miramar, only the quick game button seemed to work for us :/. After many months of pure sanhok going back to those maps is grim. Spent 10 minutes running around all of pecado and didn't find a single boost or helmet. Other games kept landing and finding nothing at all. I don't remember loot being sooo rare. Perhaps sanhok has just spoiled me.

much more challenging, tactical and rewarding.

sanhok is awful IMO.

Played a couple last night and selecting sanhok wouldn’t join me. Try quick game and it worked straight away and on sanhok lol. So clearly something not working with map selection & matchmaking. Then got erangel then mirimar and likewise both were slim pickings for loot. I much prefer having a decent gun and gear off the bat rather than leaving it in the hands of the loot gods.

Same, its just depressing looting 5 buildings and finding a single shotgun or a sickle arrrg.

If you deem that tactical then more power to you.

More to do with the fact that you have to pick up weapons in front of you and adapt your playstyle accordingly. Good weapons and gear mean something on the BR maps. Its borderline like having a create a class system on Sanhok as you can pretty much decide your weapon loadout and playstyle before you've landed.

its very one dimensional and predictable gameplay and your heavily penalised for firing your weapon.

Its not what PUBG is IMO.
