So I’ve just started playing MGS5, and so far I’m really impressed.
The intro was mental, and I feel like I’ve just been thrust into the game with little guidance whatsoever, but judging from some of the dialogue I think that’s the point; it’s very clever.
Now I’ve sorted the ultrawide out, and I
think I’ve gotten rid of that stupid 60fps cack, it runs great; some really stunning views.
Also, from my limited play it feels like they’ve absolutely nailed the mechanics. Now I’ve gotten to grips with the control scheme everything feels very fluid and intuitive, with small details that make the experience feel very slick.
Running round the desert, exploring and experimenting with approaches into outposts feels fantastic, and whilst I’ve been given very little information, small story pushes and intel from things I scope with the binos makes it feel like I have purpose, and that there are real world events that I may well impact upon.
It’s early days, but 8/10 for me so far. Lack of Ultrawide support, a vanilla 60fps lock and some strange terrain interaction bugs are the main detractors for me. I feel like boycotting games that don’t support high refresh and UW in 2018. I’ll let this one off as it’s quite old now
