Christmas humbug thread

Not everyone celebrates Christmas, but it irks me that some councils change it to "Happy Holidays" to pander to the offended. We don't rename Guy Fawkes or Independence Day do we? Nor Easter, EID, Chinese New Year, Hogmanay, New Year's Eve etc?

The OP's argument (about no snow) is valid in the Southern hemisphere, the Equator and 1 or 2 latitudes above that.

There's always someone rolling out this old turd

I've seen plenty of people moaning about it on the internet, but I've never seen it actually put in to practise.

I stopped celebrating Christmas in the 80's. Now I just feel slightly detached from it all. I participate but I feel nothing but an inconvenience to my usual schedule and quite a bit poorer. I have a week off this year so that's nice.

Christmas is banned in our house until the 3rd of December.

Our daughter was born on the 2nd so we get her birthday done then start with it.

Else my Mrs would have the Xmas Dec's up by the end of Sept

It's associated with snow due to the Dickensian Christmas, when he wrote the books there was a period where it was very cold and it snowed heavily in December.

My little boy is almost two and it'll be the first Christmas that he'll understand what's going on. I'm VERY excited and cannot wait for Santa to visit!!

how is it we have so many here complaining about christmas yet a number of you will chat about the next iteration of a EA or Activision rebadge the same game each year 6 months plus from release, same applies to pc components.

Will i stick up my decorations in the next few weeks no does it bother me that others will no it has no effect on my life.

While clearly overegged by some people, it's certainly not something that is rare, especially in corporate environments where people are afraid of offending anyone. There are plenty of other real life examples of this happening if you bother to Google, as it usually gets blown up by the rabble rousing papers. But to deny it ever happens is a bit short sighted to say the least.

The SJW PC brigade even changed "Christmas pies" to "mince pies" FFS! Ridiculous, he's not called "Father Mincemas", is he?!!!

Anyone remember that parody from a couple of Christmases ago? :D

When will be stop associating snow with Christmas?

It has not snowed at Christmas for 20 years at least!

Its snowed at christmas? Never seen it in my life. The funny thing is everyone associates it but if it ever happened the endless moaning whining and complaining would be unbearable. People like the idea of it but the reality is something different.

We don't rename Guy Fawkes

I thought everyone does their best to ignore it as un PC? There wasn't even a single official commemoration on the BBC this year and the authorities did their best to ignore the bonfire parade in Lewes this year the only reports were sniffy ones of politicians effigies being burned - someone reported it as a hate crime. Police had to waste their time investigating and stating no crime had been committed.

When will they stop associating religion with Christmas and stick to celebrating a bloke in a red suit bringing presents?:p if people dumped the bible and looked at actual facts then maybe they would realise they are celebrating a birthday of someone that probably never even existed
Facts such as the first mention of this bloke called Jesus was some 70 years after he was supposedly born? and yet everyone apparently knows his birthday?

Wasn't the Lewes hate crime complaint regarding the burning of effigies of Tory politicians (May, Boris and JRM)?

Sounds like it was just a response by frothing Tories to the Grendel Tower effigy arrests.

It was parodying the nature of much of those types of rants. A bit too well as it fooled many folk.

I'm going with "its sunday morning" as my excuse then ;) Happy to get the torch and pitchfork out when SJW's do something stupid but I'm old fashioned and like to see they're guilty of it first.

I know that Sunday morning feeling. Got a touch of it myself today. :)
