Worthy price for the RX 590?

You pay approx 35% more for a RX 590 for additional 10% performance over a RX 580 8GB. I'd go for the RX 580 and a Freesync monitor :)

If that's the case in Denmark then yeah, I probably agree. I don't think an extra 10-15% performance would allow for higher resolution/settings.

But then your stuck using gsync and having to pay the Nvidia tax for it. Which automatically bumps it up in to the next price bracket.

And this is it, (I have freesync I use freesync)
I don't need freesync or gsync, it seems that you have to now have one or the other.
Sorry but no freesync still has it's limitations and in lower fps freesync doesn't make a lower performing card smoother than a higher performing card with it's performance capped 1hz below the refresh rate.

Gtx1070 £300 or a rx590 at 240-280,
Neither I'd get a Vega.

I bought a Freesync monitor but the only options are the 580 or Vega 56. I don't really want to pay that much so I'm leaning towards the 580, but the minor improvement in the 590 isn't worth the 20-40% price increase. Shame really.

I don't understand how someone like yourself thinks this is good value at this late stage take 3. A gtx1070 frankly is eol and this 590 cannot even come close to one. The rx590 was objectively all about end performance at the cost of power consumption. They failed to scale by a linear current draw/frequency attained on this process. So the clock gains aren't translating into gaining efficient performance. They didn't even use faster gddr5 memory. Fair enough if the 570/580 were eol, and this 590 came in at £160-200.i could even forgive it if the rx590 used the denser lithography to incorporate an extra cu on each geometry engine, that combined with some decent gddr5 memory, it would be a bit closer to a stock 1070
It uses x2 the power of gp106, does not get used in laptops only a desktop and is propping up the prices in a stagnant entry level to mid range market.

What does the 1070 have to do with it? The 580/590 competes against the 1060 they always have done. When was a new 1070 priced at £250 ish? The 590 is a better card than the current 1060 and is priced alongside it.

1. Because jigger included the 1070 in his post that I responded to.
2. A gtx1070 can be had at 300, my point in my other posts, either get a 580 or get a vega.

Well you can get a 1070 for £300 and some of the 590's are £260 and 270. Yet you can get a 580 for £190. The 590 is just terrible pricing unless the 580 goes up in price across all vendors, which I doubt.

Well if £300 was the price of a 1070 then that would changes things. A little like your argument.

Sadly £400+ is more the price of the 1070 so we have around £150 difference between the two....

Are you comparing like for like cards? Is the 580 @ £199 (here) the same card as the premier 590s priced at £260 and £270 (here)? You can debate whether that increase is worth it or not, but you have to compare like for like cards.

The cheapest i've seen is £319 on a black friday deal. You also get 3 free games with a 590 as well, and you're also locked into G-SYNC tax with a 1070, I'm not saying the games would be attractive to all, or that the GSYNC tax mattered to all, but they're attractive options to many.

Can we stop bringing bundles into it?

Otherwise you end up going down a really daft route...

"The 590+Freesync+Ryzen+Logitech mouse is better value than the 1060+Gsync+Intel+Razor mouse."

Yeah, let's just compare the darn GPUs. Some of us don't have AnySync and couldn't care less :p

As daft as bringing in the 1070, which isn't a £300 card outside of special short term deals, the cheapest 1070 here is £380 and out of stock. If bundles and GYSNC should be ignored, then the comparison should be 590/1060. You could get a V56 for £300 here last week, are we throwing that into the mix?

Would anyone compare a 1060 with V56 in all seriousness? I don't think so.

Most monitors sold over the last 3 or 4 years use freesync.

Forgetting freesync, Its well price against the gtx1060 6gb.
