National Lottery Instant Wins (online)

For a short while I got a bit too 'into' the £2 Monopoly Gold online scratch card game (probably about £10-£16 per week, which is too much going by my standards).

To break myself out of it, I played ~400 games using the 'try' button - where it's free but you don't get any winnings.

Keeping track of it all, I correctly concluded that big prizes weren't to be had by mere mixed/mediocre luck mortals . I think the highest prize that cropped up was about £50 or so, but it was a definite loss making enterprise overall.

I was sweating it throughout that I would hit the once-in-a-lifetime jackpot, but not get it due to not putting the stake in. Thankfully that didn't happen :P

I read an article a while back about a bloke from Camelot who goes round people's houses who've won big to confirm the transfer, and apparently he's had to make multiple visits to the same people as there are some gits who've won big two or three times.

I didn't realise, perhaps naively, that some scratch cards sold are essentially a waste of time, as the big prizes have already been won.

The prizes outstanding are published somewhere. The no of top prizes outstanding are https://www.national-lottery.co.uk/games/gamestore/scratchcards

I don't play the lottery or scratch cards, but pay into a sybdisynd at work when there's a big rollover on the UK or euro lottery. The odds are so long I can't bring myself to play regularly

I realise that this is a necro'd thread, but the same stands with my last post. i.e. I had beginner's luck when I opened the Camelot account in 2006. Luck quickly went down the toilet. Had another fruitless £45 stint in 2009 then I self-excluded myself.

I once managed to get to the limit for the day in about 20 minutes, which I think was about 75 turns. Started with £20 in my account and wasn't bothered about walking away with nothing, playing a monopoly card at £5 a go, came out with about £240 at the end when they stopped me, lol.

On Sat 1st Dec 2018 at 12.54 I purchased a "Merry Millions" instant win from the National Lottery website, attached, and in Game 2 I thought I had a winner with the star in the top left of the game showing a £5K win so I took a screen shot of it so I could show friends but on finishing the game it said that I was not a winner this time. I wrote to Camelot and they said the £5K prize was for a mince pie. Looking at the prize icon it seems to match the star in my screenshot for £5K don't you think? Have there been other complaints like this or am I just a one off?

:( Tried to upload screenshot of potential win but doesn't seem to want to

I don't trust the online ones, I know it's probably regulated but it's too easy for a computer to just not pay out if they've paid too much that day or whatever. It's probably me being paranoid but I only trust normal scratch cards and I normally get a £5 one once a week in the petrol station or whatever.

the way it works out they will pay out a minimum of 60% of whatever they take in. could be as high as 80% or something.

so if you play the numbers game you will never win more than you put in unless you are very lucky.

I played on one game i think it was a millionaire lifestyle. Put £2 in and kept winning £2 here, £5 here as well as losing some games but the winning was outstripping the losing so much that after around 100+ tries from the original £2 i was upto around £150. I eventually got down to £90 and cashed out but it was pretty crazy. I was convinced i was going to get the jackpot if i could keep it up as i was having so many goes.

They look nothing alike to me?
