done the 4.8 settings as per the above vid, intelburn is ok, but cpu says 100% usage and only 67'C average temp

Run prime95, few seconds 90'C and crash.

Why are they so different?

well 4.8 on intel burn is ok, 5.0 wont even boot. Put voltage up to 1.32 and still wouldn't boot.

Happy to stay on 4.8, as its a bit dodge with prime 95. Will try to tweak a bit more and see what I can do

When I had my 8086k, air cooling wasn’t enough to keep it cool under prime95 (non avx).

That was 1.325v @ 5ghz. Since I only have a dark rock 4, I keep my 9900k at 4.9ghz at 1.27v to keep the temps in check. You probably need to delid to get temps under control.

In reality if your temps under your main workloads are fine, then why bother with what one or two benchmarks do to your temps?

Noctua NH-D15 Dual Radiator Quiet CPU Cooler with two NH-A15 Fans

Assured as good as an AIO system

Temps are much higher than my 8700k before I delidded even when at 1.4v at 5ghz. I can probably guess who told you that cooler was as good as an AIO.

Probably not much gain over 4.8. Don't want to go down the delidding route. Running at 4.8 should increase Lightroom performance nicely!
