Christmas party photo & shame thread!

Nah, I went as a rod bearing :D

:(

I didn't think they let valet attendants at those places mingle with the guests let alone wear face disguises?!

The other three xmas dos I have have also all been excellent and everything paid for.

Is is common for Christmas do's to be paid for? I've worked for almost 20 years in various private sector and public sector jobs and we all had to pay individually. The only exception was one place (private sector) where the MD paid everyone for the 1st drink but food and all subsequent drinks we each paid for as normal.

I've never had to pay for one. At my old firm we used to have a sit down meal and then some entertainment + DJ, then when we got bigger the sit down meals weren't so feasible as most venues couldn't handle the numbers and so got scrapped and replaced with canapes. We'd still have a free bar and I guess actually a bit more entertainment - belly dancers, some random sword fighting dudes, a burlesque show one year (back when we had a sit down meal)... at one venue an entertainer/greeter person dressed up as a circus ringmaster was at the entrance and seemingly had the job of insulting/taking the **** out of everyone coming in while we queued to put away our coats. One particularly uptight French colleague got so triggered by it he nearly had a fight with him :D

My wife's one is coming up, everything paid for, partners pay a small fee towards food. Free bar and taxi's :D despite being a much larger company (500 staff vs 18) my work doesn't even have one, we have a company day in February with a free meal and 3 free drinks. Free hotel room if you share too.

Not in public sector, but in my experience private sector generally pay for them .

Companies actually get a £150 per person allowance for parties from HMRC:

Overview
As an employer providing social functions and parties for your employees, you have certain National Insurance and reporting obligations.
What's exempt
You might not have to report anything to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) or pay tax and National Insurance. To be exempt, the party or similar social function must be all the following:

  • £150 or less per head
  • annual, such as a Christmas party or summer barbecue
  • open to all your employees

Last one I went to the meal was paid for and we were given prepaid "credit cards" with 50 quid on them for drinks, which were discounted anyway, pints were 1.50, shots with or without mixers were a quid.

Nearby hotel offered discounted rates which was handy ;)

I imagine HR might be a bit upset about your posting pictures of female colleagues and then commenting on their hotness? Not trying to be a killjoy but people have got in to trouble before for less I'm sure!

Anyway as the boss man I've organised our works do as a meal and then bowling followed by drinks, hopefully won't suck.

Yes it is common and to pay is very uncommon in my experience. Ive never paid for anything at any party in over 30 years and many included partners attending too.

Alright you merry bunch of bumders, it's that time of the year when the christmas booze starts flowing and the parties are had. Let's see your shame!

I'll start off with mine. Despite being in this photo, you probably won't see me due to my cunning disguise:

Was talking to the parents in law about this. I've worked at a bunch of different places and never paid for a Christmas Party, but they say theyve always had to pay. I don't think I'd go if I had to pay, it's not the money really it's just... Well that's not a Christmas party it's just a normal night out. In December. With people from work.
