CPW and Amazon refunds on phones?

People don't generally buy smaller phones unfortunately, otherwise there would still be an iPhone 5 sized device or Sony Compact devices. The manufacturers already have this data and it's not worth their while to produce them.
Sorry I just don't believe that. Manufacturers make bigger phones because they can charge more for them. Most people I speak to (techy and non-techy) all want smaller phones.

It's like the headphone jack debacle; part "trend" thanks to Apple, partly because it helps the manufacturer reduce their cost.

I used to work in the portfolio area of a large UK telco, and unfortunately the sales show that customers only buy the larger phones. It's just not worth it for manufacturers to make them, or telcos to range them. HTC and Sony tried hard, but nobody bought the smaller handsets, and now even Apple have given up.

Well we can agree to disagree but for the last few years if you wanted a top of the range phone (or at least towards the top) they've all been larger. I know because I've been trying to replace my OnePlus One for 3 years! Manufacturers seemed insistent that top performance = bigger phone. It's only now that your average budget phone that just happens to be smaller - is actually absolutely fine for your average user.

I've seen the actual numbers, I'm not going to agree to disagree with you when you're basing your opinion purely on anecdotes. :D

Although I agree that a smaller phone is fine for most people, and my OP 6T is too big for me really, but there was nothing else at that price point because the manufacturers tried and failed with compact phones. Like you (and me actually), Sony really thought making a smaller flagship spec phone like the Compacts would result in a massive hit but they didn't sell anything like expected and I see are no longer made. Why didn't you buy a Sony XZ1 Compact or one of the other Sonys in the 3 years?

AVOID CPW. They changed their policy a little while to refuse refunds, exchange only. Luckily I had bought online to store and have my DSR rights. Still took them 6 weeks to get me my refund. Absolute joke of a company.

Totally within their rights to do so if you purchase a phone in store and decide you don't like it, I don't see the problem.

Agreed they are within their rights. Just as I am when I say its still crappy behaviour and they don't deserve your business. In this case the phone had an issue with Android Auto so it wasn't just a matter of disliking it, it was deficient.

However, Amazon and other retailers have more customer friendly approach to returns. No problem, just options.

To be frank, I went through a short period where I had a few run-ins with their policies (this return issue, another warranty issue, poor CS in-store, inadequate haste on a refund) that I was just turned off the company for the forseeable future.

I returned an open but unused new phone from Amazon 18 months ago, with no problems. I just didn't like the way it felt it my hand.
