Another RTX GPU Moan Thread

Not a bad start for the first title in my opinion, if we look at how much anger was directed at BFV ray tracing and already that is improving pretty greatly.

I personally am interested in some of the other aspects of DLSS such as knowing a straight line is a straight line and not blurring it - yes it appears to need a bit of work but you have to assume that flickering can be optimised out very quickly. I tend to reduce down the AAA when I play because I hate how blurry the games look, again that is my preference.

For its first title not a bad performance gain for something which looks graphically largely the same.

So I guess a good question would be, how many people with RTX Cards would send them back for a refund if it was an option?

It would be an interesting poll that.

I wouldn't even if I could, unless it dies on me of course. Played Battlefield 5 last night in 4K/60 with RTX on High rather than Ultra, looked stunningly good and frame rates were absolutely fine. That's with a mildly overclocked Zotac AMP 2080Ti.

Well slightly more back on track to what i was saying in the refund side of things, I'd imagine that if OCUK did allow it there would be a huge influx of people going, oh hell yeah I'm sending it back.

I would be keeping mine, as nothing else out worth buying. Stupidly pricey card but so bloody quick, not worth dropping back down.

All this DLSS faff!

If they had just put more cuda cores on all the range instead of using up die space for all these different type of cores you would not have needed all this fancy guff and relying on Nvidia and developers to implement it. The cards would have run native 4k properly and it would have worked on any game out of the box

Now you have to wait for each and every game to be programmed for the tech.

and it seems to play at 4k to benefit from it.

I really do feel they should just have more cores instead, I dont know what nvidia were thinking.

4K is the future. It will get all the attention and support going forward. 1440p is around a decade old now.

Are you one of those people who just gets excited at new stuff like a novelty and then gets bored of it as soon as something newer comes? :)

Decade old or not, why does it matter. 1440p I have been using for games nowhere near a decade. 1080p is still the most common gaming resolution.

3440x1440 is not 1440P It is Ultra wide, which is certainly not a decade old.

It is 1440p. Just wider. No increase in image quality what so ever over 1440p.

Not at all. We were stuck on 1600p for ages (over a decade ago now). Then finally 2160p came along. We are finally seeing it being pushed with many games releasing 4K textures :)

Nothing wrong with 1440p. But generally speaking with time we tend to upgrade to better stuff. Otherwise we would be on 640p or something.

Indeed.

nVidia gave us a half-baked answer to a question nobody asked and want us to pay 50% more for the privilege.

Well regardless, my point stands and that is I have no interest in 4K and 3440x1440 is where I would like to see some DLSS love.

Fair enough. Would be good to see DLSS anywhere at this point really.

Lol. If less pixels and lower image quality equals better than sure.

Might be time to visit spec savers ;)

Peripheral vision checks will tell you if you have the onset of glaucoma, which would be why you aren't seeing the benefits of 21:9.

;)

Much rather have better graphics mate. 16:9 is plenty wide ;)

Most of those commenting have used both, depends on what your requirements are. On the contrary to what you are saying, I need the higher framerates. 4K panels have been "the future" for the last few years since the ST panels launched, nothing has really changed. Unless you count very low sale volumes on HDR units. If we go by your logic, then surely 8K is the real future lol.

my point is when a tech is invented it doesnt mean its mass adopted right away.

To me 1440p is new I have been using it maybe 3-4 years max. Even when I got my 1440p monitor I was still playing games at a lower resolution initially as the 1440p was brought for desktop real estate rather than for game resolution.

I would say right now its 50/50 whether I play a game full screen 1440p or lower resolution windowed. 1080p remains the most popular gaming resolution in the gaming world, 4k is niche.

For tv's 4k seems a bit more popular, I still have a 1080p tv, but I will acknowledge for tv's its more than niche.

I actually think due to the tv adoption 4k may even be more popular on consoles than pc's.
