Hi all. Hope you are enjoying Christmas.

I have an Msi laptop with a 1050ti graphics card and have received a rift for Christmas. Problem Is the laptop uses optimus and all connection ports are onto the 670 graphics card therefore the rift is not connecting. I had tried Nvidia control panel and in the bios but neither have the ability to switch optimus off!

I have had the thought of an external graphics card that plug into the usb?. Does anyone know if this is a work around or am I doomed?

Thanks all

You could also try an older version of the oculus software. Which will let you run non optimal hardware. It will complain, but I had it running on a core 2 quad, 780ti and 4gb of ram.

this is from the msi forums

If you use another monitor as default monitor on your laptop virtual desktop Will work.

Ok got the second monitor hooked up. It works!!!!!! Two questions. In vr the screen does not fill up the whole window and the mouse is off. I have to move it like two inches two the right of what I want to click on. I'm sure these are just settings issues. But was wondering if you found fixes for this if you experienced it as well? Thanks again for your help!!

Your new monitor running above 1080 p resolution
Like for example 1140p or 4k?
Then i Have this issue as Well
In 1080p resolution its all fine.

a lot of People Have this issue with the so called vr Ready laptops. it took a few forums and days for me aswell until i figured it out how to get tot to work.
I was kinda hoping to easily take my vr with me to friend houses or something Just the laptop and headset but now even second monitor better Just bought one of those small msi vr desktops.

I hate that they put vr Ready on these laptops
Half of the apps dont even work without a second monitor...
