New (first) car - dos and don'ts

I passed today :)

Congrats, try not to wrap it round a tree for the first few months and you should be golden. You never stop learning.

Worth getting a dash cam?

In London I'd say essential, quieter areas it's a good idea. 2 of my friends have been inconvenienced by whiplash claim scammers, one of them caught it on camera, it was quite comical. You also never know when a phone zombie or an idiot joining the road without looking might appear

Good shout - I'll look into getting one :)

Do:
  • Drive it
Don't:
  • Crash it

(For serious, enjoy it, look after it and it'll look after you, have fun! Getting your first car is a life changing moment)

Get used to checking fluids/consumables though, will pay to get it serviced on time too. Don't be one of those new drivers that uses MOTs as reminders to fix problems :p

Don't plan to be - back in uni next year with limited funds, so will really be keeping an eye on everything this year :-)
