Latest Gillette ad suggests their customers are broken, toxic and need "fixing" through feminism

I love how quickly these threads reach 10+ pages.

Always tickles me.

Anyway y'all a bunch of salty toxic masculinity peddling men. You need more feminism in y'all lives. The future is female.

It's not pedantry over small details. Pedantry would be pointing out that you should have capitalised Internet. You said that people dismissed group rape as "boys will be boys" and then Freakbro dug up a reference to support you when it was someone talking about an alleged case of a teenage boy lying down on top of a teenage girl briefly at a party before letting her leave.

Your problem isn't lack of specificity. It's that you grossly misrepresented something. Intellectually dishonest, much?

I'm not sure you are talking to me or not... you quoted me but then refer to me in the third person as a reference of support to the person you are talking to...but then refer to specificity which is what I said....confusing much? :D

Oh, and the capitalisation of internet seems to be a hot topic with arguments for and against :P but the trend in the UK is internet, whilst in the US Internet is more prevalent

I've always wondered why we never see a woman shaving her face on a gillette ad?

Talk about sexism!

Actually, I've dropped myself in it haven't I

It doesn't matter if they are men or women featured in these ads....how on earth do we know what gender they identify as. Could be gender zero, fluid, dual or anything!

The ad is fine.

Sorry!

Honestly don't see the issue with that ad... a little poorly directed and heavy handed with it's message? Sure. But the message itself is a pretty good one I'd say. Don't be a bullying, misogynistic *****.

Wow. I never knew I was a rapist.

My favourite part was when the guy clasped the woman on the shoulder in the meeting, and her expression made it look like he'd just shoved his head up her skirt while holding her family at gunpoint for the 3rd time this week.

Re watch that part again and see if you can see what the ACTUAL issue is there. You've literally only seen and heard what you wanted to.

If we took this Gillette ad and changed the focus from rapey overpowering men to knife crime in London depicting young Black males as knife wielding murderers, how well do you think that would go down ?

Well that is quite an amusing barometer when it comes to plenty of feminist slogans, statements, tweets etc... replace "men" with say "blacks" and they can come across as horribly racist. But men are fair game.

I guess if an advert were made teaching black people that it isn't OK to sell drugs, that gangs aren't cool - perhaps quoting some rap lyrics glorifying gang violence etc.. plenty of black people wouldn't be too happy about it given that those are things that are done by a small minority and aren't exclusive to black people either.

Of course you might also get a few black people who might otherwise be referred to as "uncle toms" saying - "well gang violence is bad and I identify with the good black people, I know this advert featuring black people doing loads of bad things isn't about all black people", "well the message is a good one still, don't be a drug selling gangbanger" etc...

I'm sure black people are full of appreciation for you giving them such voice.

The message sure - but it nails that message onto a target group in a manner that suggest they are all guilty of it and champions other groups as being better/saviours of that target group.

You really think so? Didn't see anything particularly accusatory there tbh. Twas a brand that specialises specifically in male grooming products (as far as I'm aware) publishing a promotional video to there target audience...
