I was considering a vega or a used 1070 -1080 but the price is out ov my budget and the price wont change much considering nothing new is coming out this year that will change anything.Neither at your resolution
Will this last me a bit ?xGet the 580 it's a better card full stop, and you get 8GB of VRAM. It's generally accepted thast the best AMD cards are made by Sapphire and Powercolor.

Do you know how many year of warranty comes with powercolor ? some sites say 2 years overclockers says 3 years
Thanks for the reply, I have sean a sub £200 deal on a powercolor 580 8gb card when compared to used prices its good but they will be EOL from what i've been reading on here, I don't know what to do myself at the moment, the problem is I dont have huge funds to put into the PC and I like to justify my spending (how i was raised).Hmmm, reading back through the thread and at your res, I'd do some research before buying anything, you need to be sure what performance you will get with what card. But don't buy anything with 6GB of VRAM whatever you do, it's not enough, and a really boneheaded move if you want a card to last some time, as it seems you do.
Honestly, in your position i'd buy a new monitor first, 1440p at most.

I was thinking of maybe holding out for navi get something cheap for now but that 8-10 moths away and no real info available. I think GPU's have not improved much in 3 years but the prices are still the same as the release, So the more I think about it the more confused I get.
Could I not drop the resolution down on the screen I have and make the most of it, I could get a new screen but I don't think I will be able to afford one at size and even if I get a smaller screen I still wont have the funds for a GPU.
I don't plan do push everything to the limit.
This is just my thoughts and im open to advice and suggestions to make a good choices.
Would that just be in game or everything ?Yeah you can lower the resolution but it might look a bit odd so you might have to tweak it a bit in the settings. Honestly a 580 won't power your monitor unless you really lower the settings

also would a vega 56 be a better option ?
Don't listen to him, for most games most settings can be maxed with little performance difference. I have an RX 480 and can max a lot of settings at 4K with ease
I cant afford to get a new monitor or size I will be happy with at the moment but I may still have a old 24" screen I think it 1080, but I do prefer to have a larger screen I run at 1920 x 1200 mostly on my 30" screen and did look good to me before when I was gaming so I dont know.Kooooweeee is right, it'll look weird.
They will be EOL soon, but it really won't matter. You're right the value in GPU market is absolutely terrible. You could drop res, but as kooweee says it'll look weird. I hate to say it, but you can't afford to game at the res your monitor is. The 580/90 is a 1080p card really, I honestly think you're going to keep running into the same problem with your monitor over and over again, the V56 is a better option, sure, but your problem is your monitor.
I'm waiting for Ryzen 2, so I bought a 580 as a stop-gap because my 2500k would just bottleneck Vega, but I'm at 1080p so it's a perfect fit.
Don't listen to him, for most games most settings can be maxed with little performance difference. I have an RX 480 and can max a lot of settings at 4K with ease. But you do have to tinker and see what works best and what doesn't, or what's bugged (e.g. Volumetric Clouds in Odyssey, CHS in Mankind Divided etc.) Some settings simply tax the system a LOT but offer little in return (often shadow related).
Yes, you can always drop resolution, but how well that will look is unknown to me on your monitor. Test it out yourself now with the card you have. Even if the games don't run well you should at least be able to tell the image quality difference. Just in-game, doesn't have to be everywhere.
Vega 56 vs RX 580 is a question of money & expectations. It's certainly a better card and good value as well, but the RX 580 is on another level in terms of $/performance. Is it worth the extra $? Up to you. How sensitive are you to framerates and how fussy about settings? The more of both, the more the balance changes for Vega.
Yes, it's 1600p. Which is 75% of 4K. Here's Odyseey running on mine at 80%. Make sure to count how many settings are maxed, and let me know.Have you seen what monitor he's got? Please stop with the bad advice. @4k you can't max much at all

Thanks, I'm open to everyone's options as you can tell I don't really have a clue at the on this subject,
I run at 1920 x 1200 normally on my 30" screen which looks good to me and it did look good to me before when I had my 280x, I also gamed on this screen using the 280x but it was older games like Witcher 3, elder scrolls, Dragon Age Inquisition. batman,
I dont really care about frame rates or settings setting, I'm not really one to push for ultra settings just because, I just prefer best value performance but at the same time Im would rather spend a little time to choose a card and want or need to upgrade.
I've not run that bench but it says your running at 30fps most of the time. Very low imo
38 avg. 45+ in the actual game, easily tweakable for more (which I don't do myself, I am happy with stable 30 in this game and would rather just up visuals). Most of it is due to the nature of the game itself rather than the card's power. It's a notoriously difficult game to run at > 30fps due to the Anvil Engine. Other Ubisoft games that do better and which can actually make use of more FPS, shooters - The Division & Far Cry 5 are quite easy to run at 1600p 60 fps. And so on. There's a lot of performance & visual quality to be had for cheap if you know what needs tweaking and what doesn't, presets don't adjust well at all.
Any way you look at it, them cards are not 4k cards. You might as well get a Xbox.
