Fly-tipping

Is that enforced? I'm in Medway and I can just drive in to the local refuse site and dump as much as I want, it seems. Not even any checks that I'm a Medway resident. About the only rule is "no pickup trucks", and even that doesn't seem to be enforced. I know Dartford BC has different rules and you have to display a resident permit on your windscreen to use the site, but there's no checking on how much you're using the site.
When you go, you have to show proof of address. Each time you go, your dumped weight for the year so far is recorded and written down on a piece of paper and handed back to you. They charge if you go over two tonne in a year.

My dump is Thames Road in Crayford.

EDIT: I’ve actually just checked. When I last dumped two years ago, it was two tonne a year. It’s now been dropped to half a tonne. Shows how much of a problem it’s getting.

Littering or flytipping?

The latter is partially caused by councils not allowing vans onto their disposal sites. Why?
I agree 100% about Councils limiting / restricting access to recycling centres. That they then complain about the cost involved in clearing fly-tipped rubbish while the Government (presumably) spends money on advertisements designed to discourage fly-tipping only serves to illustrate how limited is their imagination and the short-term thinking involved in central Government funding cuts - prevention is better than cure.

However, as my first post suggested, I am perhaps more concerned at how selfish, inconsiderate, thoughtless and impolite many people in this country are. Casually discarding your drinks cans and bottles, your food wrappers and your animal faeces is disgusting.

I think that with all the ability we as citizens of being able to video footage of people fly tipping of littering there should me a new law created.

If you are able to video someone fly tipping or littering and it is proof enough for a conviction and you come along and clear it up, you should then get a percentage of the fine that the flytipper/litterer gets punished with. Youll soon turn those people into crusaders of a clean Britain if you offer up some money as a reward lol.

Maybe you should take a bit more time thinking before creating threads then, because that isn't "fly-tipping" which you've put as the thread title.

Our local council has just implemented a paid for garden waste disposal collections above our council tax. Will be interesting to see if we see and increase in fly tipping here. Of course not as bad non garden waste but I'm sure it's only a matter of time until that also is brought in.

Still, my thread title got you in here (post edited to avoid giving offence).

Strange behaviour . . .

We have enforcement officers in bexley who whack you with an instant £80 fine if they see you drop so much as a crisp packet or a fag butt.

Nice one, great contribution... Are you now going to move to another new thread and pick apart the OPs post for inaccuracies?

The reason given by our council was to stop white van man from dumping commercial waste, ie waste they had been paid to move or building waste.

I cycle past the Stoke Incinerator every day, it is closed on Monday & Tuesdays and from 5pm.
It is at these times that I regularly stop on my bike and pretend to phone somebody when they are just about to fly tip outside the incinerator gates.
Animals.

So what you're saying is that the times that someone can trash a large item are incompatible with full time jobs?

The US is a big place, bigger than Europe. Try going to somewhere 'successful' like San Francisco, or to a failed city like St Louis and have a look at the sidewalk there.
Yeah the cities are awful but who wants to live there?

Most people, that's why the population of cities keep expanding and the prices are higher. I would hate to live in the sticks, especially in the US.
Why? I can’t stand city living over here. Every time I visit NY I’m ready to get back home.
