And when I thought Mal X was the prime source of comedy gold of motors, in pops AlphaMale with this thread. (Really mate, come on, inspecting in the rain in the dark?!)
Is the original advert available still? Does it list these issues?
Reject the car as misrepresented if so (and you can show the advert to the finance company alongside your photos).
The car was described as "mint". I had faith in this garage based on its reputation and reviews. Never I have been sold a car in such a state.
Their were no such issues at all listed in the advert. It has been pulled down.
Full BMW service history? You sure about that. Have you checked the log book/service records for it?
Just notice the pictures - dear god - that's horrendous - Rain or no rain (which is a shocking excuse for poor condition of the car) - reject immediately and pray to god you have a nice dealer who is willing to discuss matters.
Yes the service history is verified, and their excuse for the state of the car was "it was not prepped, it was due to be prepped on friday"
this is comedy gold
car from africa - alarm bells. africa doesn't exactly have great roads. neither is it free from corruption, etc. i wouldn't buy any car from there.
6 years old and 20k miles = 3k miles a year = not been properly used and likely to have issues due to long periods of standing still. also why would someone bring it here to then just sell it? if i was going to take a car from 1 side of the world to the other it's something i would likely be keeping for life as it's far cheaper to sell and just re-buy over here.
full service history - from africa i assume? good luck with that. i bet i could forge full history in africa for my car by paying some geezer over there £50.
£20,500 for a 6 year old z4? the most expensive one near me is £19K and is 3 years old the 28i though. £15K gets me a 3.0 2012 so 7 years old. so you paid £5.5K more for 1 year newer and the 35i? likely make no noticeable difference in day to day driving.
i haven't seen the pics but by some of the comments i probably should. also you do realise there is a brand new model just been launched? therefore the price of Z4's should be tanking. yet you overpaid?
why don't you just go and get the car wrapped inside and outside? the light having condensation is normal for a 6 year old car. the sun in africa will have destroyed the seals, etc. that is the other thing. with it being africa being in the hot all the time to now going to a cold climate. it's a dramatic change. i'd expect to see some leaks soon from other seals, etc.
spend £2K on a full interior/exterior wrap.
Firstly I was not informed it was from Africa, I only found out after but did not think this was a big deal. From now on I will make sure to check this.
The service history is verified, as it was done with in the BMW Network
Its the 35is, with the N54 and DCT. Yes it was worth it, It is the flag ship of the range and a wonderful GT cruiser.
No this will not be "tanking" these are close to the bottom in terms of depreciation, and the G29 Z4 prices will take a little while to affect these.
Yes their is a noticeable difference in the way these cars drive between models in the real world.
I think he saw the low mileage, 1 owner and assumed everything else is perfect as it came from a “reputable” garage.
Yes, 100% correct. Maybe they will still come through for me. We will see on Monday.
I can see why your annoyed, but realistically how much will it cost you to get sorted at a decent body shop? I would just get it sorted myself as I would expect any dealer to do as cheap a job as possible TBH. At least at that point you'll have a great example - an expensive lesson though!
The dealer has agreed to sort it, will see how that goes.
I might be wrong, but those marks on the mirror actually appear to be on a clear plastic scratch guard designed to protect the paintwork. So it can probably just be peeled off (with heat applied?) to reveal perfect paintwork beneath.
You are correct, they are plastic covers, the garage will remove them and inspect before handing the car back on Monday.
