EVGA Z390 DARK

He claims that the Hero was able to achieve 5.5, too. Just with "more voltage". The most likely scenario is he is taking readings from arbitrary places on the power plane. Due diligence goes a long way with these things.

Yup that's what i said in my other post. The Hero X could do 5.5 cinebench but it took more voltage as stated in the video description.
However with more voltage comes heat and then the OC hits a wall where you can't go any higher due to thermals.
That is why i was asking if he had mentioned any other z390 boards for comparison, because reports from users and Silicon Lottery state that z390 boards in general require less vcore vs their z370 counterparts. There is also a change in how the Maximus lineup is reporting vcore from X to XI series as you know which reportedly gives lower but more accurate readings.
What he is describing could simply be the vcore difference between z370 and z390.
I get the impression that a few people on this forum speak to Luumi directly which is why i was asking the question. If the Dark is matching other boards then it's just another z390 to choose from, but if it is beating them then that is something else.

I'm trying to find out which it is. Mostly because 1.35v seems to be the upper limit for standard cooling while anything higher tends to need chilled water or other more exotic cooling.

By the time this thing is available in the UK z390 will be eol

Amazed to see that the Apex XI Z390 is now finally a thing and available to pre-order... Considering it was named with the launch of the 9900k thats an impressive delay and I fear you will be correct!
