Looking For an Excuse to NOT buy an RTX 2080

and DLSS is basically upscaling. let's call a spade a spade.

what @Scougar said.
You fail when you don't do proper research on it!
OP can decide based on their own research and the comments in this thread :), as mentioned in my first reply. It's 2070 vs 2080 not repeating the pricing issue nonsense which has already been done to death in these forums. End of my participation :p.
PS I don't necessarily disagree on pricing- but it is what it is.RT is technology required for more realistic gaming in the future - it is worth something at this stage.

ie, it's more than just upscaling from a lower res and should (should :) ) improve.
still upscaling though, innit? :)

While we have been told this is part of what makes up DLSS, there is more to it than just simple upscaling.[...]it simply takes less samples per pixel than current AA methods

The game itself is rendered at a lower resolution and just like those image enhancement techniques that work so well via deep learning techniques, DLSS works to produce higher resolution imagery.

fine okay, you win, it's upscaling plus ;)

must have upset someone :).
no, sorry mate, it's an online forum. must have issues to get upset over online posts lol

Thread clean-up time?
Keep to OP question.
sounds like paying over the odds, and also handing over the lube to nvidia to become a beta tester though, innit?
#justsaying #mytakeonit
is this not answering OP's question?
and also just pointing out your statements that make no sense of course.

He has a point...why pay 700 to beta test ?

A quick google and one can easily see fps tanks with RTX on and blurry IQ with DLSS :p
I'm playing the new Far Cry game at the moment and finding it's more blurry than BFV with DLSS and getting 75FPS according to the benchmark ! :).(less than I get now in BFV with RT and DLSS).

yeah keep editing your posts :p i never said "just" upscaling.
And I still typed it wrong :). The just came from another thread I think.

@DarrenM343 good thing you ain't played the new metro yet lol. :D

Metro DLSS: https://www.dsogaming.com/articles/...with-its-day-1-update-comparison-screenshots/

Ironically, NVIDIA was happy to advertise DLSS as a better anti-aliasing solution for 3DMark Port Royal (as it provided a crisper image than TAA) but it is only telling gamers that the neural network will get better over time for Metro Exodus. This is the definition of cherry picking. And to be honest, and as a customer, I don’t really care if the neural network needs more time so that it can provide a crisper image. When NVIDIA announced DLSS, it didn’t say anything along the lines of “When we add DLSS in a game, it will look like a blurry mess and will be worse than TAA. Over time, things will get better as we continue training our neural network“. In fact, NVIDIA claimed that DLSS would be a better/faster AA solution and that it would provide an image at least as good as TAA (as soon as it’s added in a game). That is not happening in Metro Exodus, plain and simple. “It just DOESN’T work.”

I can't afford the new Metro as I spent too much money on the GPU. Have had to buy a cheapo non-RT game :D
I agree with DLSS at the moment and commented elsewhere but 2080 or 1070 is the question...….. :). Will DLSS improve? Time will give us that answer
Metro I never liked the first one so leaving it a bit and waiting to see what others think, probably until RT and DLSS patch 100000001.

Because it's overpriced and Nvidia talked total crap about the new "features". Which just end up making the game look and run worse.

Keep what you have and wait until later in the year.

Play Shadow of the tomb raider for RT....oh wait ! :p

Theres a lot of sad people on here with big egos that think they "know it all" lol if you would like one then go ahead and buy one, if your happy enough with the 1070 still then wait :) it will be a lot better than your 1070 so will be an upgrade anyway.

Just do what makes you happy
