Sky internet speed doubling for free

Sky gave me a Sky Q Hub when i moved house in Feb but the WiFi signal was terrible so i just used the old one from my previous property that i was given about 4 years ago. I had the same 40/20 there as well. My new line is capable of the higher speeds.

What was the router you used may I ask?

I live out in the sticks and get 2mb down atm..... :(

As your sync speed is that low, i’m guessing you probably aren’t on FTTC to begin with - this is for FTTC, not ADSL etc. They are literally removing the profile cap to let each like run at its maximum speed in the same way ADSL Max replaced the fixed profile speeds of ADSL.

Just got the email through about the upgrade being complete. I was on 40/20 but connection is showing 52/15. Apparently it take 10 days to adjust itself again.

We estimate the new download speeds your line can support will be between 55.0 Mb and 77.9 Mb.

And we guarantee your Minimum Access Download Speed of 50.8 Mb.

has yours resynced yet?

mine just upgraded yesterday and is giving me 55/15 aswell. i used to have fibre max a couple of years ago before downgrading to fibre unlimited.
i used to get 75/20 back then so i was hoping for the same again.

Are sky doubling everyone's speeds?

Technically they appear to be offering the 80/20 profile for the same price as 40/10, the increase is to whatever the maximum your line can sustain, it could be anything from no change if you're already at your lines limit, to doubling it if your line can sustain 80/20.

Got my email 24 hours ago from Sky notifying me that my line is now upgraded and capable of up to 76mb and should go live in the next 72 hours.

So what are they doing exactly? My folks are on Sky, I'll have to see if they're getting upgraded. They are on a 40/10 service I think, but the line will do 75Mb.

Bit miffed that I pay for an 80/20 service yet get no kick back in cost when all customers on the 40/10 service get a free upgrade? Not moaning at you guys more of a Sky dig :(

What's your speed estimate on the BT DSL checker? As far as I'm aware, all cabinets offer 80/20. Any limitation is probably with the length of your line to the cabinet.
I get - assuming this is what you're after:-

Interestingly, my neighbour's is this... By a quirk I'm connected to a much nearer cabinet than all the rest of the street :)
