Are India and Pakistan about to have another showdown?

They do not hate each other. In all honesty, most of the Indians do not hate Pakistanis and vice versa.

Kashmir should have been a matter sorted out decades ago, but greed has played a major part.

I have always expected tensions to rise between the two political governments but what has occurred isn’t the answer.
Hopefully you know better than me. But every Pakistani in my wifes family hate Indians and (whenever I broach the subject) every Indian at work hates Pakistanis.

I get the impression that the hate is more from the Pakistanis about Indians though. But admittedly I know fewer Pakistanis than Indians, although I have a much closer relationship with them.

I certainly don't have a broad view of it but from the sources I'm using for information there isn't a lot of love for each other. From what I've seen so far Indians largely seem a bit bemused while Pakistani side there seems to be some hot blood but I don't know how wide spread it is.

Every Hindu, Sikh and Muslim I know has pretty strong feelings on the 1947 Jammu massacres. That hate runs pretty deep, if not as vocal with some.

I wouldn't bet on there not being a major conflict

So what I'm taking away from this is Pakistan's response to being accused of harbouring terrorists (again) is to retaliate to no damage being caused by India by shooting down 2 Indian planes.

Seems legit.

They are terrible. It wasnt so long ago that the US were telling them to sort out their terrorism issue.

They just don't give a ****. Never have never will.

Guess this will send jitters across the world because both have plenty of bad blood between them and are also nuclear armed.

Otherwise not many would probably care.

Its a surreal atmosphere over here at the moment.

After India's retaliation with an air strike a couple of days ago I have witnessed dancing in the street, people celebrating the events and either looking forward to a conflict or being completely ignorant of how this may unfold.

I have witnessed people burning the flag of Pakistan in the centre of the city.

I completely understand the emotion of revenge and the wish to show a strong front against Pakistan (a lot of Indians feel that previous administrations have let atrocities slide), but I feel uneasy with the mass celebrations that are going on.

My facebook feed is full of ' Hows the Josh?!' statements, and people glorifying the attack on Pakistan.

Obviously I hope it doesnt escalate because I happen to live damn close to the border, however Modi has always been perceived to be anti-Muslim after his inaction during the Gujarat riots, and in an election year I cant help feel cynical that somewhere within this is an attempt to harvest votes by plugging into the anti Pakistan sentiments that still seep through India.

p.s : 5 domestic airports have just been closed over here because of the fear that something is about to kick off.
