It is rather more to the point that the British Empire (Like all empires really) was one of consent.

India submitted to British rule for as long as they were content to do so. Once they were no longer willing to do so we had nowhere near the necessary resources, ether militarily or economically, to have any real influence on how things developed.

With the best will in the world, division of British troops was never really going to be able to do anything to prevent millions of people from trying to kill one another once they had set their minds to the task.

I like the revisionist history you are spouting - Britain literally killed anyone who tried to oppose the British rule. do you really think anyone really 'likes' being ruled.. there's a really good twitter account @crimesofbrits.. do go over and see what Britain did to try to keep its control! it was only because of WW1 and 2 that your resources diminished so you had to let go of all these countries.

Thought pakistan was branded a terror support state and had sanctions against them? Why the US selling weapons to them?
same reason it is giving 3.8 billion dollars to Israel which is illegal under intl law because they havent declared their nuclear weapons but also hell bound on taking all of God's promised land back but thats fine..

there werent that many terrorism events in Pakistan before USA forced it to help after 9/11.. Pakistan and its people have paid a heavy price to side with USA - but you dont care because its not you or your relatives that have died.. carry on as normal

Peace has been offered from Pakistan, India know they have more strength in numbers and like typical bullies are not replying back with same intentions.

Well whatever they do, Pakistan will give a good account for itself. As proved so far, 2 jets down 1 pilot captured.

I think actions speak louder than words here, token statements about peace etc.. are one thing - the fact still remains that an Islamist group formed and backed by Pakistan carried out yet another attack on India. This is a deliberate part of Pakistani foreign policy, there isn't a "maybe" about it, India responded this time, Pakistan perhaps had come to believe that these attacks wouldn't be met with a conventional response.

IF they're going to finally crack down on this and stop supporting these groups then that might achieve what is needed here, but empty words aren't going to be sufficient.

Thought pakistan was branded a terror support state and had sanctions against them? Why the US selling weapons to them?

Perhaps it would helpful if you were to be more specific about what you were referring to. I think you might well be starting off with a false premise ergo your second question is pointless.

And yet another one crawls out of the woodwork.

Indeed, if you have no decent point to make then throw a bit of whataboutery into the thread - but but but what about Israel, what about the British empire etc... etc.. :D

For those not still following this, there's been some interesting developments.

Firstly India has shown off wreckage of the AIM-120 (AMRAAM) missile used to down it's MiG-21. For those of you not that clued up on planes, the only plane Pakistan possess that can carry/fire the AIM-120 is the F-16, the plane they swear was nowhere near the encounter as that would violate the terms of their agreement with the US.

Secondly, and potentially even more embarrassing for both Pakistan and the US if true, the Indians are claiming that before it was hit their MiG-21 got off a R-27 missile of it's own which took down a Pakistani F-16. Again for those of you not clued up on planes, that isn't actually as fanciful as many news outlets will be making it sound as the MiG-21 Bisons used by India are modern refits designed to last until the mid 2020s, and while the airframe may be dated the computers and the R-27 missiles are more than a threat for an F-16.
