OcUK GTX1660 review thread

Ah, I'm showing my lack of knowledge here. I was asking GTX1060 3gb vs GTX1660 Nvidia, not AMD cards.

The major upgrade will be the VRAM as 3GB can be limiting even at 1080p. You are looking at roughly a one third performance bump over your current card. I might be inclined to hold off until the 7NM cards from both companies launch, unless you really need that extra performance. However,it will be at least another 6 to 12 months AFAIK.

You can get GTX1660TI,GTX1070 and Vega56 cards for another £50 to £60 which should offer another 10% to 20% extra performance, which is closer to what I would aim for,ie,at least 50% faster ideally between upgrades:

If you do overclock the GTX1660 you might get closer to the higher end cards but this is not something that can be guarenteed.

How does the gtx 1660 compare to the rx 580 and the 1060 ?

Faster!

1660 typically beats 590 by around 5% and has lower power consumption.

All in all you’d struggle to tell the difference and 590 supports over 500 freesync monitors so that’s a benefit and the free three games is a nice bonus as easy to sell on for around £50 which gives you a 590 for £150 !!!
