The problem is that respect has to be mutual. Most of the Muslims I've worked alongside are happy to demand that their rights and religion are treated with respect. However, they're utterly prejudiced and unwilling to tolerate anyone that has beliefs or a way of life which is different to their own. Basically it's a case of them expecting you to protect their rights whilst happily treading on those of people who don't share their worldview. I found their general views towards Christians, atheists, LGBT groups, etc utterly repugnant to be honest.
A great pity?? That the far rights good work is being sidelined. What good work is that exactly?? There is absolutely nothing good about any work the far right or far left do.
The fact that you find it a great pity speaks volumes about what sort of person you are.
Go on then, I'll bite - please tell us all about this 'good work'
This is why multiculturism is a myth, radical and liberal cultures can't live side by side , friction is always under the surface.
Hands up for a world without the internet and mobile phones?
I'd scrap both tommorow, the world was a better place before them and people were happier. I used to laugh (the wireless, b and w TV, very simple food etc) at my parents when they said 'Things were better in our day', now I'm older I realise I know exactly what they mean and they were right. Simpler lives were better, having 'less' and more importantly being happy with far fewer consumer trinkets and having less technology to waste your life on, and engender envy, spite and fear etc was better, they did not have much high tech, but they did have community and an identity and a real way of life.
Things were better before mobile phones and especially the internet. End of story.
Be quiet you are disrupting the narrativeDoes anyone remember when this was covered on mainstream media for days on end?

I guess it doesn't fit the 'far right' are the only evil of the day narrative...
Christians are being persecuted all across the world and you rarely hear about it compared to say the Rohingya Muslims who have received constant coverage. I'm against any violence but my point is as I've said in other threads the fake news only seem to highlight stories that fit a 'far right' narrative and they demonise everyone on the right in the process.

I'm still trying to understand why playing games and watching Youtube on a tablet is worse than playing with toys and watching TV which is what I did a lot as a kid, except kids can actually pick and choose what they watch these days. Why are tablets viewed as some sort of evil device? Kids need to get exercise and socialise, but tablets aren't inherently bad.
A very good post. I am seriously considering going mobile free (as in smart phone) free next year. I have an ancient phone Noking around somewhere with the old T9... Had to tell one of the kids off at weekend for a 10hr tablet binge watching a talking head... Gave the run down on 8hrs a day on tablet is a waste of 4months of your life per year
Thems were the good old days, alt tabbing between game windows, MSN, and IE (AOL in my house, savages). The dulcet tones of a 56k modem dialling up. Asking Jeeves. Being able to game online without receiving a torrent of racist abuse from a ****** off 12 year old.
Even then, some of those don't look all that right wing compared to parties you find in Europe and the US.
Not liking Islam doesn't automatically make someone "far right" like some try to suggest. Infact Islam itself could be called right wing tbh, it's very conservative and intolerant of different cultures.

Which is why a responsible parent will check what their kids are watching/looking at. Mine like a guy's kid friendly game channel called "DanTDM" but they tend to watch his shows on a smart TV rather than on a tablet. On the tablet they play Minecraft, Roblox and Lego Boost.Really? TV is moderated, the internet isn't. The internet is a far bigger danger to impresionable youngsters than TV ever was.
I used a Nokia 3310 new style when I wanted to get rid of using a smart phone. Big change from an iPhone and it was fine I could cope. It give me a break for few months away from media and other people.
I actually can't get over more stuff happening, don't people learn! Acts like this and they will get banged up for a while. I'm surprised that the UK doesn't run out of space by now.
.
Maybe I will do same. Not sure what I have in the way of the 3310.
Will never forget those clandestine midnight surfing sessions when I was 15. Possible because everyone had gone to bed and no one wanted to use the phone. Sitting eating crisps while waiting for nudey photos to download one line at a time. Such memories!
This will get more coverage
Great times but i don't miss the telephone bills, my Dad went mental when the first quarterly bill came in.
