I saw that tweet. Joking aside, would that not be a viable option with a large fire like this?

They’re used for fires over large areas, not fires the size of a big church. You’d only have a split second to dump it.

Seems convenient they were asking for donations to afford the work and now there's a fire so they can claim insurance and get the work done for free + any additional work the fire damages, because the Catholic church is broke

Not really, they have unlikely got enough on standby. Then you need to re-fill them, also flying stuff like that above heavily populated areas is not very wise imho

No. A single fire engine can pump out that amount of water roughly every two minutes. And they have those in number on emergency standby in Paris.

Yeah there’s no way the firefighters can salvage it now (as in stop it engulfing every flammable object in the building), it’s too well developed. (I’d be surprised anyway)

It’s mitigating it from other buildings at this point plus keeping it doused.
