Hi all,
About a year ago I posted this thread looking to upgrade or replace with a 4k rig. It was clear that a new set up was the way to go but RAM/GPU prices were high and so I've stuck with my existing set up for longer. It looks like prices have come down somewhat and I'm about out of patience with my existing set up.
For around £2,000 I'd like a 4k editing machine and a 4k monitor. In the previous thread, the BenQ BL2711U was suggested as a really solid 4k monitor. Is that still the case, or is there a hot new favourite? With regards to the budget, this will be a business purchase so I'm pretty flexible. I'll step up to £2,500 if doing so really will open up a significantly better level of performance and, equally, I'll happily drop down to £1,500 or lower if spending extra money really isn't yielding a proportionally decent additional return.
Regards the computer, I use it mostly for business tasks such as accountancy, spreadsheets, research (lots of tabs!), building and editing websites, creating content, some Photoshop and some video editing/production. I don't play games and I probably won't work in 4k very often. What I need is a machine that will simply crush the day to day tasks, respond very quickly to requests to open/close tabs/programs and be responsive/fast when using Adobe Premier Pro (mostly in 1080p). I'm guessing a fast CPU/RAM and a fast SSD will be the priority.
