4k Video Editing/General Productivity Set Up Please

Hi all,

About a year ago I posted this thread looking to upgrade or replace with a 4k rig. It was clear that a new set up was the way to go but RAM/GPU prices were high and so I've stuck with my existing set up for longer. It looks like prices have come down somewhat and I'm about out of patience with my existing set up.

For around £2,000 I'd like a 4k editing machine and a 4k monitor. In the previous thread, the BenQ BL2711U was suggested as a really solid 4k monitor. Is that still the case, or is there a hot new favourite? With regards to the budget, this will be a business purchase so I'm pretty flexible. I'll step up to £2,500 if doing so really will open up a significantly better level of performance and, equally, I'll happily drop down to £1,500 or lower if spending extra money really isn't yielding a proportionally decent additional return.

Regards the computer, I use it mostly for business tasks such as accountancy, spreadsheets, research (lots of tabs!), building and editing websites, creating content, some Photoshop and some video editing/production. I don't play games and I probably won't work in 4k very often. What I need is a machine that will simply crush the day to day tasks, respond very quickly to requests to open/close tabs/programs and be responsive/fast when using Adobe Premier Pro (mostly in 1080p). I'm guessing a fast CPU/RAM and a fast SSD will be the priority.

Over to you helpful/knowledgeable chaps :)

Guessing your using Adobe Prem Pro for 4k work ? Doesn't use GPU as much as say Davinci Resolve which will take any work you can through at it !
Adobe can get away with GTX 1660Ti :)

Other Adobe programs like after effects and lightroom again favour Intel's speed .

Ryzen 3000 could throw a spanner in the works bringing in speed and better performance along with high core counts for hopefully cheaper , but you'll have to wait till July for that , and be quick on the trigger

Shame 9900T isn't out yet and not having to pay for the costly K version

Prem 2018 doesn't use GPU power as much as newer 19 version ^^^

CPU - 2700X isn't to bad , though ryzen 3000 should bridge the gap

about £50-100 for OCUK to build

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,572.04 (includes shipping: £13.20)

NVMe for OS, apps and Scratch drive, Sata 3 SSD for media files and work cases as mentioned above and HDD for storage of files after use/general

could beef up to the RTX 2060 but would personally overclock 1660ti ram

board and GPU are both UK RMA with rep support on here , so downtime should be VERY low if it comes to it

Thanks guys, fine tuning my basket but ready to pull trigger soon. One quick question: Will a Geoforce RTX 2060 run the BenQ BL2711U 10-bit monitor? I read here ("Best GPU for Video Editing" section), that it won't?

Stating it's 8+2 FRC panel and not a true 10 bit. If it's not True 10 bit then RTX/GTX will work. If it's true 10 then need a quadro

Think it's there SW range that's 10bits and full Adobe

Trigger pulled today on the this configuration. Thank you all for your advice, I'm confident it'll exceed my expectations and needs.

My existing computer is this one here. It's paired with two LG L226WTQ Monitors, a G15 Keyboard, and a meh mouse. Anyone got any idea what I should ask for it if selling locally on Gumtree or trying to punt it on eBay? Obviously I'd wipe it and fresh install Windows 10 again.
