Tea makers always welcome :p

Hopefully ill be able to get some more work done on it this week, rather than one patch.. That patch was an hour in the making mind :/

Sorry for lack of updates, new unit move, taking a staff member on and workload just got in the way.

I have been doing bits and bobs with the shell but not achieving the time needed on the welding/panel work which requires more than an hour spare here and there. I had contacted a few companys about doing the work on it, but was getting stupid quotes. Retropower being the winners with a £24k quote just for the welding/panel work (Comes back in primer) LOL.

I then had a shell offered to me, all the welding/metal work completed, full group 4 spec, 4 linked back end, full roll cage etc.

So I bit the bullet and bought it, its being delivered on Sunday so will get more pictures then :)

My E30 was more rotten and I had it welded up for 1K, a proper super duper job including a full re-spray would have been about 8K. 24K... Just lol!

Its a little worse than your E30 lol.. Ill go from rear to front.

Both boot floor troths,
rear window surround,
both rear quarters,
full floor pan,
both A Pillars,
front chassis leg n/s,
inner wing n/s,
inner front panel,
outer front panel,
both wings.

Thats just major parts, not repairing anything else along the way lol!

i hope you told him to **** off with that 24k quote

I didnt even reply.. what do you say back to that?

Now we're talking! Nice. I spy a Sunbeam in the corner too, those things are getting hard to find now.
So what's the plan for the original then? Keep it stored for future reference or pluck away slowly?

Is that a Sunbeam ti in the background?

Great thread, keep up the good work....

And £24k? I’d want a complete restored car for that! :D

Don't think it's a ti, the dash looks beige, can't see a spoiler on it and the colour looks too dark to be moonstone blue, but I could be wrong :p

Yea was a standard Talbot Sunbeam road car

He had an original MK2 RS2000, Pug 309GTi and a MK1 Escort which was a hell of a spec as well

I dunno, mine needed:

Nearside front wing
Offside front wing
Nearside Bay tray
Offside Bay tray
Windscreen surround/scuttle
Firewall by heater blower
Pass footwell
Drivers footwells & pedal box area
Nearside outer sill
Nearside inner sill
Offside outer sill
Passenger rear footwell
Nearside outer rear arch
Nearside inner rear srch
Offside outer rear arch, lower
Nearside boot pocket
Offside boot pocket
Breather hose channel
Inner arch fuel pipe mounting
Rear offside valance
Rear panel lock surround
Sunroof surround

And a handful of little bits.

:p

Actually that £8K quote was before half of that was found... So probably more like 12K including paint.

I was going to ask about area of low front bulkhead as rot there but don't find it till "very late" also C pillor to rear quarter as a join there that you can see from outside.

Hi have some decent books on building them and Pinto engines has some great tips/info on building a stronger head by bracing cantre pillar and removing oil feed from it via another route.
Other book i have is on works sierra cosworths has some god info on the YBA engine running it NA also. If you pick up a 205 block many came from Injection sierras they have better conrods than e blocks which was in older non injection engines so stronger engine then can fit a cosworth head to it run it NA need to change the pistons for valve relief. The 205 block is what was in the two door cosworths.the 4wd ones had different block and the RS500 had a 400 block which was totally different "full of core plugs"

Looks like shell you just got is set up for Group 4 with trailing arms and coil overs!

Got two pairs of Lucas 20/20's here plus a front to rear battery lead.
