78 year old pensioner targetted for revenge

If the dead burglar's family want a public shrine, put it on their own property, not by the burglary victim's home...

This man died trespassing another man's home, he was not innocently knocked down on the street etc.

I think you mean the property they have randomly settled on rather than the one they actually own.

classy Vincent Family in the news again over the funeral:

A large contingent gathered on Thursday to cover the open-casket funeral of Henry Vincent, 37, who was killed after a struggle with Richard Osborn-Brooks, 78, in Hither Green, London on April 4.

A month on, tensions are still heightened after weeks of stand-offs between the Vincent family and residents in Hither Green.

As the elaborate procession made its way through St Mary Cray near Orpington in Kent, women were seen leaning out of flower-laden cars swearing at journalists.

Pictures captured a man in a suit and military boots being pinned to the ground as he still held what appeared to be an order of service.

Scotland Yard told The Telegraph a man, believed to be in his teens, was arrested on suspicion of assault at 1.15pm in High Street, Orpington.

Objects were also thrown, including eggs, rocks and drinks cans, and police ordered photographers to leave the area amid fears of violence.

One mourner shouted "you need shooting" at the press and a cameraman was struck with an egg. Another journalist was cut on his finger after being hit by two eggs.

Shock as scum are scum. Love how useless the police are. Instead of going after those committing the offences they basically inhibit the lives of the victims.

Lawfully killed.

"His sister had told the hearing her brother was "not a violent person"."

In a statement, the pathologist who carried out the post-mortem examination said a toxicology report indicated "a recent use of both cocaine and heroin".

Mr Vincent's accomplice fled out of the front door but the intruder came down the stairs holding the screwdriver and saying "get out of my way or I'll stick you with this".

Aye, not violent at all...

Country is a joke can literally get away with murder. Council estate near me, all i see them do is hang around on bikes zipping up and down the fields late at night can hear them from my house. Nothing is done about it. What a world we live in.

My car had an attempted break in not long back. All recorded on cctv. Called police all they were interested in was the cowel covering the wheel where fingerprints may of been left. But they didn't want to retrieve it themself. They were hoping it was loose and could be bought into the station.

Mind boggles.

Correct ruling but still not keen on how he seemingly had to say the scum came at him and walked onto the knife. If a repeat offending piece of **** is armed and attempting to burgle you while threatening your family how you stab him shouldn’t matter.

The rest of the family still proving themselves to be oxygen thieves.

We need much more funding for police, its really that simple. People, including travellers often 'get away' with things because there just are not cops on the ground, they are stretched massively and just dont have the funding for the staff they need. It's a sad state of affairs when policitians are raking in so much money

The coroner has basically said it is a combination of the guy coming at him with a screwdriver and some forward motion on his part... so though the home owner himself has essentially gone with the "he just ran into my knife" argument the court has essentially heard that it was a bit of both and still been cool with it.

If he'd trapped him in the home and killed him then that wouldn't fly, but the first burglar escaped and it is clear he did try to frighten off the other burglar too with the knife.

While what you suggest is logical Rich, and undoubtedly true, it still doesn’t get around the fact that the Keystone Kops seem to be terrified of going after these travellers, as if they’re seriously concerned about getting hurt.
I’ve heard unfounded tales, (so don’t take them as gospel), that travellers have taunted cops by saying, “We know where you live, and where your kids go to school.”
A local reporter in the Midlands is alleged to have said that a cop up there said, “If we go in and nick ‘em, we’ll get the windows smashed in our homes.”
All this could be urban mythology, but even if it’s a tiny bit true, it speaks volumes about the situation.

As well as stretching our police thin (some of whom do amazing jobs) the government and the EU has a penchant for bringing in crazy weapons laws that don't help at all.

This and that's the money we know about. How can so much policing be cut and yet expect crime to stay in check.

The police were utterly risible in dealing with "traveller" issues even when they were well funded. They treat them with kid gloves, afraid of the race card being played, and possibly even physically afraid. It's the same as their hog tied efforts to tackle knife crime where again a known demographic are easily identified as the majority of the perpetrators, and should be relentlessly pursued. i wouldn't pay many of them with buttons, especially the hierarchy who now seem mainly career and politically led.

What crazy EU weapons laws ?

Well, for instance, our deactivation standards for firearms were very good and some of the strictest in the world. A Kalashnikov, for example, had its barrel cut, its bolt face cut off, the firing pin cut and pins welded across the breech - all ensuring that the weapon could never be reactivated. Then the EU came along a few years ago and forced them to be deactivated in a way that means they are also to be welded up entirely meaning that the inner workings can't be inspected anymore to see if they are actually deactivated or not. Not only that, but it meant that ALL deactivated firearms in the country that were to be traded or passed on had to be sent at the owner's cost to proofing houses to be 'redeactivated' to the new standard. The market for deactivated firearms in this country is a very good thing for the wider society because it takes hundreds of thousands of real weapons off the streets, turns them into harmless ornaments and places them in collectors' hands where they are safe and looked after.
