A large contingent gathered on Thursday to cover the open-casket funeral of Henry Vincent, 37, who was killed after a struggle with Richard Osborn-Brooks, 78, in Hither Green, London on April 4.
A month on, tensions are still heightened after weeks of stand-offs between the Vincent family and residents in Hither Green.
As the elaborate procession made its way through St Mary Cray near Orpington in Kent, women were seen leaning out of flower-laden cars swearing at journalists.
Pictures captured a man in a suit and military boots being pinned to the ground as he still held what appeared to be an order of service.
Scotland Yard told The Telegraph a man, believed to be in his teens, was arrested on suspicion of assault at 1.15pm in High Street, Orpington.
Objects were also thrown, including eggs, rocks and drinks cans, and police ordered photographers to leave the area amid fears of violence.
One mourner shouted "you need shooting" at the press and a cameraman was struck with an egg. Another journalist was cut on his finger after being hit by two eggs.
