i meant more as in showing me whats out of date and needs updating, ive used some in the past but a while ago...

As long as you've updated the motherboard drivers directly from MSI and GPU from Nvidia you're pretty much set - Windows will have taken care of the rest during install. (As mentioned, if you can avoid bloatware - geforce experience, and MSI utilities.)

No, that's not a usual boot sequence.

Danny, may have a point - the motherboard may not be supplying enough juice to components in standard mode. Game mode may well be juicing it enough to replicate stability - well it is stable in game mode at present.

It may be worth adding the 4 pin - may make a difference to power distribution - not just extra raw oomph - as this may help smooth things out.

But it's late - i need to hit the sack. I recommend you do the same.

Windows will have a load of updates to do - i would force the issue and let it update while you sleep (you have smoke alarms, right? :)).

We can resume tomorrow - and hopefully resolve it one way or the other...

No worries - we seem to have taken 2 steps forward and 1 step back.

TBH, not entirely sure what the issue is - motherboard maybe, CPU unlikely but the PSU has to be considered now too if it's a power delivery issue :/

Who knows, we may resolve it yet.

The 8pin cpu was 2 4pins connected and says cpu on the side.

The other power lead has pcie on it but has the 6+2 8pin connection

Should i split the 8pin cpu and put the 4 into the 4

And then use the pcie 8pin in the main cpu slot?

Doesnt sound right to me but thats the only way i can see it with the power leads i have

Edit - yeah i wont do that as it will blow the cpu apparently haha

Yeah it looks like. Is there an adapter or something to i need to buy to fit it?

Seems to be working great on boost mode but sets the fans to like 80% and goes a lot louder than it needs to be.

Would buying a bigger psu be worthehile 750w?

Don't worry too much about that, as you can go into Hardware Monitor in the BIOS and tune the fans down from how Game Boost (or XMP does the same I believe) sets them.

There's really no need for a 750W, or to use that extra CPU 4 pin header, if everything was fine. Need to track down what's going on as it could come back to bite you later even with Game Boost on.

Let's see some voltages, including the +12v rail, like so:

oh yeah set the fans to smart mode and it made it silent as theres no demand very nice, still in game boost mode

how do you get a cutout screenshot like you if you dont mind me askng, ive been taking photos on my phone and uploading via websites
 
Make sure the window you want is in foreground by clicking on it, then ALT and Prt Scr to take a screenshot. Then I usually paste it into Paint, and then upload.

Your latest photos are legible though. Can't see much wrong with those figures. Though software monitoring isn't fully reliable it can sometimes provide a clue.

One request I'd have is to disable Game Boost, and enable XMP 3333MHz. But then also manually enter a value of 1.35v for the RAM (in your pics it's DIMM 1.216v). See what happens.
