Something super is coming...

there seems some confusion as some think the new super cards will be $100 cheaper, but I can't see any reason for Nvidia to do that - they're selling cards at the present price and there's little competition to force them to reduce any profit margin.

And that's before the higher than expected Navi price

Watch Dogs 3 will ship with Ray Tracing

It's coming thick and fast now, AAA developers announcing RTX Ray Tracing one after another

Makes Navi look shortsighted to not support a feature developers clearly want - the ray tracing adoption wouldn't be this big if developers didn't want this tech

Might sell my 1080Ti for a 2080Ti if there is a price drop, then again my 1080Ti will only be fetching 300 max. So outlay for Ray Tracing, hmmmm.

My 1080 is struggling at the moment with Odyssey, Metro and even BF5. Very tempted with an upgrade.... but I should wait until the next Nvidia gen. Not super.

Cyber Punk 2077 (April 2020) seems like a decent aim.

My 1080 is clicking the fan is making a awful ticking and it must be 3yrs old this is the Nvidia 600quid quality chinese componenta at work. They need to sort this crap out 600 and 1200 quid for cards that break all the time.

Even as far back as the 8800gtx people put them in the oven around the 3 to 4 year mark. So i am not looking fondly upon a Super 2080. You are basically looking at a overclocked and tweaked 2080 because they are such greedy people tied into these two gpus 2080 and 2080ti.

Not much AMd could have done, it takes years to get such a feature into production silicon. We will be lucky if The navi 20 next year is not a hacked rush job.

AMD's own slide talks about doing ray-tracing in the cloud, which to me indicates they wont have a god hardware sytem.

lol devs clearly only want RTX when Nvidia are bank rolling them. What other AAA titles are coming with RTX support?

Having no Raytracing is not a big deal they should just call out Nvidia for using money to bait developers into doing RT. A gain is what AMD needed well heres the gain while Nvidia use up die space for something gamers are not using just close the gap or overtake them. AMD must be the biggest weaksauce competitor i have ever seen its constabt let downs and could have beens.

Nvidia gambled here on something i want AFTER 8k 240hz. But they want me to pay for it now and suck up a 25% loss because RT cores took up space on the card. Just leave it let them mature RTX and split the market RT for Nvidia and Raw speed for AMD. But nope lets just be happy playing second fiddle to another round of dirty Nvidia. Because if they see AMD have no real raytracing they will use cash to make games they can influence heavy on the Raytracing to bias to thier overpriced and slow gpus.

Time is finite
Time is money

If you have a new feature you want people to use weather is AMD/MS/Intel/Nvidia developers are not going to use if you "here is XYX, know your selfs out" because it will take time to figure out what it can and can not to, weather its useful for the project, how long (and so how much) it take to put into a product it.

but If a company came along and said "we have XYZ, it can to this, this and this, we have documentation and support here, and we have dedicate engineers we can help or send out if you have issues if you want to use it".

Its more than than any money that changes hands that allows some NVidia tech to be used while some "Free" options hardly get used. This is coming from someone who used to work in games middleware.
