Price difference negligible.

New mobo (MSI B450 Carbon) will take M.2 drives, this seems a tidier solution than the 2.5 drive (which I'd need a mounting kit for anyway).

Any reason not to buy the M.2?

oh wait. my mistake. msi b450 pro carbon only has 1x m.2 slot.
anyway, comment above still stands...if you wanted to upgrade to nvme in future...that may be a problem, as you'd then have to get rid of the sata m.2 drive (rather than being able to use it as extra storage)

Right, that does alter things, with that in mind I'm going to go with the 2.5 because i'll be kicking myself when I want a NVME when they're much cheaper in a year or two.
