OcUK RX5700 and RX5700XT review thread

£24?, already being sold for £11 on the MM. The Super one is worth £60.

But the new Super destroys it

Depends what game you pick. The 5700XT reference blower version 'destroys' the 2070S in newer games like Battlefield 5 and Forza Horizon 2;).
The 2070S has an AIB cooler and is roughly about 10% faster in Witcher 3 but neck and neck in most other games.

The 5700XT boosts higher when cooled properly as shown by Hardware Unboxed so expecting a jump into the lead once AIB 5700 series cards are released. Also Navi drivers are immature at the moment. 10% gains are achievable once optimized.

To be fair the 2070S will probably overclock to over 2ghz as well. It should comfortably maintain the lead (other than the games you've mentioned). On the drivers front, AMD might prove us all wrong one day, but I don't believe they will suddenly leapfrog cards through drivers, just not what history shows.

2070S is already heavily overclocked, and the current overclocked have pushed it bit lower than the 2080.
Any higher clocks (since is voltage limited), could be chewing sales from 2080 and 2080S. And already 2080 has serious identity issues atm, with it's rebadged brother breathing on it's neck for less money.

Well isn't the 2080 EoL anyway. The 2080S is coming out.

The 2070S does go well over 2ghz, which is pretty normal for all nvidia cards.

With manual overclocking, maximum overclock of our sample is 2045 MHz on the memory (17% overclock) and +150 MHz to the GPU's base clock, which increases average GPU clock from 1879 MHz to 1964 MHz (5% overclock).

The 2070S is already running at near 1900Mhz without overclocking so not much headroom left. The 5700XT on the other hand is only boosting to around 1800Mhz so better coolers will allow a slightly better overclock to 2Ghz+. TPU got their 5700XT to 2086MHz with the blower  and had difficulty due to buggy drivers. The 5700XT has more potential to get decent performance gains once drivers are better.

Yup. Just undervolting the 5700XT with the blower, gets to 2000 almost. Watercooled with just +50% PL no undervolting hits 2100.

I appreciate that 5700XT overclocks more than the 2070S by about 100mhz. But that ain't overturning their positions.

I do think that the 5700XT will be more enjoyable to overclock though, and watercooling may be more rewarding than on nvidia cards.

The one thing I've said is we need to see fully OC'ed 2070S versus a tweaked 5700XT.
I expect the 2070S to win out. But probably only 5%.

The 5700XT reviews are inconsistent because of clocks all over the place.

The 5700XT if its cooler wasn't crap would be a far far better proposition than it is.

But if a 5700XT could hit 2.2GHZ for example. Well it may's well be 2070S performance.

The cards are trading blows right now and that's comparing a blower version 5700XT with an AIB cooled 2070S. Do you think an AIB cooled 5700XT is not going to improve further?

True, I incorrectly had the gap bigger in my head. It might be able to close some of those non-Forza results.

Vega 64 and Red Devil & Nitro got 15% over reference by just slapping a better cooler........
Strix on the other hand, was a joke until late last year, with their design flaw. :D
