USB speakers never go into standby (despite PC being turned off)

Hi folks,

I've got a set of KEF X300A speakers which connect to my PC via USB cable.
However they never go into standby mode when I turn the computer off.

This wouldn't bother me except that they pull 26W out the wall at idle!

I found an option in my BIOS (ASRock Fatal1ty Z170) to "enable deep sleep in S5", but this didn't solve it, and then I had trouble turning on my PC the next day. I had to turn the power off at the wall and then back on again before I could boot.

Any bright ideas to get the speakers to go to sleep?
Cheers

If you disconnect the USB cable from the PC do the speakers go into standby?

I know some motherboards have a setting to keep the USB ports powered while the PC is off so you can still charge your phone / device.

Have you tried a different USB port? I know on my laptop one of them is powered even if the laptop is shutdown. It's intentional. The others aren't.

Yep they go into standby almost instantly if unplugged from the PC.
And yeah figured that's what the S5 / deep sleep BIOS option would do but no joy.

Good idea, will try now. Didn't think different ports would behave differently for some reason.

I would make sure the following are turned off,

USB Keyboard/Remote Power On
Allow the system to be waked up by an USB keyboard or remote controller.

USB Mouse Power On
Allow the system to be waked up by an USB mouse.
