Hi folks.
I recently bought from OCUK the following parts...
CP-3B9-AM - AMD 3600 CPU
MY-08R-TG - Team Group Dark Pro "8PACK Edition" 3866Mhz (x2 kits) (32GB - 4 Dimms)
MB-168-AK - Asrock X470 Taichi Ultimate

I've had issues with the parts working nicely together and it's been suggested here to return the parts and start again.

I do have some requirements though.
Minimum 32GB RAM - I don't require any more...
Excellent IOMMU support (windows in VM looking glass from linux)
It's primary use is gaming on linux and windows vm.
Must be an AMD system.
I only require CPU MOBO RAM

yes. i suggested it :)
for VMs, you'd want as many processor cores as possible.
basing on your previous build - your budget would've been £190 (3600) + £230 (taichi ultimate) + £310 (ram) = £730?

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £570.48 (includes shipping: £10.50)

Re: RAM - get it elsewhere (£141)
Ballistix Sport LT BLS2K16G4D32AESB 32 GB Kit (16 GB x 2) (DDR4, 3200 MT/s, PC4-25600, CL16, Dual Rank x8, DIMM, 288-Pin) Memory - Grey

total build cost = £711, with a better cpu :)

With my current setup is there any reason the ram you suggested wouldn't work @3200mhz with the x470 Taichi?
who knows? it should. but all the manufacturers focus is currently on x570 - so there may be some bugs.

but tbh...for ryzen 3000...ram makes little difference, see benchmarks here: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...-2133-2400-2933-3200-3733-4000-4200.18860401/
as i alluded to in your previous thread, spending an extortionate amount on overpriced ram isn't worth it.

between Aorus master and entry elite and with wifi

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £310.49 (includes shipping: £10.50)

board warranty and customer service miles better then asus

budget board, Aorus elite and asus plus both feature 12 phases or 6 doubled. both use SiC units , asus being SiC 639 and Aorus being SiC 634- which is the better integrated power stage

so uhh..... This happened....

£266.66 x 1 - AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Eight Core 4.4GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail
£232.49 x 1 - Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming (AMD AM4) DDR4 X570 Chipset ATX Motherboard
£157.49 x 1 - Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 32GB 3200 MHz AMD Ryzen Tuned DDR4 Memory Kit
£99.99 x 1 - Samsung 970 EVO Plus Polaris 500GB M.2 2280 PCI-e 3.0 x4 NVMe Solid State Drive

Had help from OCUK phone support to bash this lot together. :)

dont need wifi - elite - seems like fastest selling board for price and features

not sure why you'd need 32GB of ram for gaming ? but add in the 32gb 3200hz kit instead and total is £960 for double the Storage space and wifi

depending on games, ram speed and give an increase in FPS

I don't need 1 TB NVMe, I Have 1TB ssd for games, 480GB ssd for storage, 120gb SSD that'll be a linux boot drive.
500GB M.2 is over kill for a windows install and other programs.

32GB of RAM for games like Cities Skylines and a whole bunch of assets.

hah. indeed :D

At the start I would hit 22GB but will all expansion packs been able to ditch 70% of mods that took up huge amounts of ram space, and replaced earlier made assets with ones created much later - better texture baking and lower polygons all helped drop ram usage . But understand the need for higher . All tile unlock is a killer !
