No it's the two spaces after a full stop thing. That's fine if you're using a typewriter, but word processors account for the full stop already. The number of over-50 bosses I've had to explain this to since I entered the workplace is maddening.

hmmm, no idea if that is a thing since I rarely use a word processor.

Anyhow, according to the FT,

"Under the new rules centimetres and kilometres are to be dropped in favour of imperial measures, while “untitled” men are to be described in writing as “esquire”, rather than “Mr”."

Utterly daft.

The right honourable gentleman should not be touched with a yard stick. A stone and a fathom would be more preferable.

You should Google his kids names if you want a giggle.

Last child was named Sixtus.

Which seems to be some weird tribute as it's his 6th kid, so named after the 6th time he cracked one off into the missus, seemingly.

He has a sister called "Annunziata Rees-Mogg" so looks like the retarded names are a family tradition.

His Wife is called "Helena Anne Beatrix Wentworth Fitzwilliam de Chair".....

I have no problem if he wants to do this stuff himself and live his own life a certain way but inflicting this kind of stuff on anyone else is just wrong in every respect.

Always knew the crypto-fascist would out himself.

Check Hansard for how many times he uses these words himself...

Especially ones who have no clue about typesetting, ligatures or the difference between an n-dash and an m-dash.

He came from Hammersmith he had a thirst for riches,
He studied history at Eton and Trinity College,
That's where I,
Caught his monocled eye.
He told me that his Dad was Lord loaded-mogg,
I said "In that case I'll have a glass of Dom Perignon Vintage."
He said "Fine."
And in thirty seconds time he said,
I want to live like common people,
I want to do whatever common people do,
I want to sleep with common people,
I want to sleep with common people,
Like you.
Well what else could I do
I said "I'll see what I can do."
I took him to a supermarket,
I don't know why,
But I had to start it somewhere,
So it started there.
I said pretend you've got no money,
He just laughed and said,
"Oh you're so funny."
I said "Yeah?
Well I can't see anyone else smiling in here.
Are you…

Quite common.

Discussion about this on the radio yesterday one academic who agreed with it and one leftie someone or other who went on about how it was out of touch with the street, immigrants and predictably all but said it was racist.

It's out of touch with the Century never mind the street.

Some of the list is probably fair, though I think if he were to work in industry he'd see even more utter **** used by corporate types.

He's certainly a bit archaic but he's also pretty sharp, I think the speaker will be a bit more cautious with old JRM than he was with that "stupid woman" Leadsom.

what power does jrm have anyway ... are you going to get a personnel warning or bad performance review if you don't conform.
... couldn't you just take it to a tribunal, like the ladies who complained about the corporate dress requirements for one of the corporate banks - wasn't it ?

he's also pretty sharp,
I think you rairly see him in an unscripted environment where he's not just providing a pre-scripted response - he becomes a bit more tetchy on some R4 Today questioning.
Interesting biography on Dominic Cummings this morning R4, where Oxford professor was saying how DC's ntelligence massively superior to Boris, and would expect the same for jrm
