I think I might have screwed up with my ram purchase. Basically bought a pair of 8GB Corsair vengeance rated 3600mhz CL18. I heard that Ryzen runs better with faster ram but mine is CL18, as far I've read it's slower when rated highest?? For example compared to cl16?

The ram in question:

Which Ryzen CPU is this for? The new generation seem to be less fussy with RAM and don't lose/gain anywhere near as much as the original Ryzen chips with different memory speeds.

You can easily run the stick at CL16. Just set XMP on your motherboard so that the RAM is set to 1.35V and then change the timings manually to 16 16 16 or 16 17 17 and you should be fine. Run memtest for a few hours to confirm stability followed by a few games.

Though i must say there is not much difference in games whe you do all this. I changed my 3200MHz CL16 stick to Cl14 and also tried 3600CL16 but no difference.may be max 1fps difference in benchmarks. So honestly not worth it in my opinion. Just leave it as is if you wish.
