Rebel Galaxy Outlaw

Yep.

I played Privateer to death, completed it twice and I rarely finish games!

This looks to be a must buy for me.

It always bugged me with Privateer since April 1994, how to complete the final mission. That spaceship was unkillable even with the special gun. :(

I can't remember, I've been to sleep since then!

Must have been doable if I did it!

Always remember the thrill of finding that alien gun in the space hulk, great game.

Privateer 2: The Darkening was the one that hooked me - spent many happy hours playing that. Elite Dangerous is still the Daddy, but I think my attention span must be waning in old age, as I just can't bring myself to get into it again.

This looks a lot more fun-focussed, without the complexity.

I recently played Rebel Galaxy after it was given away via Epic Games and quite liked the more naval battle style of combat but this does look quite different with the first person view etc.

Expanding on my initial comment.

I watched ~50 mins of game play and it felt very familiar having played Rebel Galaxy with a lot of sounds being re-used for similar actions such as jumping etc.

What's mainly changed is the switch first person space combat rather than the previous fixed external view. Probably makes it appeal to more players so no bad thing. I think the game mode I watched was simulation so no outside views which I personally missed as the systems have some nice depictions though restricted to the solar plane for simplicity.

It felt more tunnelled to the combat but I believe there are other modes that allow external views which might help to locate things more easily.

I'll miss the broadside weapons though if that's not in this updated game style.

Right I've had a little play and the UI seems atrocious. Clearly must be designed for consoles, not the PC.

Also, it picks up that I have multiple screens but the screen numbers don't match what Windows says in Display Settings.

Mine won't let me select a higher resolution that 1080p for screen 2, even though that screen is set to 4k.
