Fridge alarm to stop us leaving the door open?

Utter rubbish, not all fridge/freezers (even expensive models) have this feature built in. In fact, some cheap models have this feature built in. So your point is utter tosh.

Everyone I know that has a fridge freezer has a door alarm.

Majority seem to be Asian makes like Samsung, LG, etc.

In fact I'm shocked it's not a standard feature. I know the fridges at work don't have them but they are literally the cheapest ones you can buy.

Integrated I understand wouldn't possibly have this feature. But freestanding all decent ones will have it.

Just because everyone you know has an alarm on theirs, it does not mean every model of every 'decent' brand will have such a feature, be it expensive or not. You can get 'cheap' Beko models that have this feature and then something nearly twice as expensive without such a feature.

What about a door and window intruder alarm, which is basically just a magnetic contact that goes off when the circuit has broken? I've seen them in Poundland recently.

Best solution is adjust the feet, and don't store very heavy items at the door shelves. If becomes the point of not keeping closed when the seal touches the frame, I would advise replace the seals, but clearly not the issue you're having.
About alarm being standard, no, they're not. And I don't think they're essential, more likely to be annoying than helpful.

Is the door seal spotless? Especially on the hinge side, mine started stopping just short for no apparent reason, alarm weren't working as it was stopping just after the light went out.

It was the door seal on hinge edge getting stuck, just gave it a wipe over let dry then wipe over again with some silicone spray now it works every time.

My LG, about 3 years old and far from bottom of the range, has a fridge door alarm. The freezer compartment is happy being left open all flipping day however. Seems the wrong way round to me.

Sometimes I feel like taking it apart and murderising the beeper, when prepping food. I bloody know it's open! That's the point of leaving it open!

I agree - link I posted to a digital alarm/probe you put in fridge might not spot that the door has been left open a few milimetres, which is how my door usually gets stuck,
afaik light has gone out too
... so indeed maybe it need something like a (burglary) window alarm, which is checking for real close door seal contact. I'll have to look and see how those clever fridges do it.

Surely the alarm posted by @jpaul looks like the easiest solution?

Or DIY your own:

2. https://www.hackster.io/dan_linder/refrigerator-freezer-health-monitor-4cd79b

Using something like this you could have the fridge send you a push notification when it gets too warm and it's not the most complex thing in the world to set-up either.

An ESP8266 is about £4 and a temperature probe about £3.

I'm actually tempted to try this, given my freezer door came open earlier and defrosted itsself :o.

My £1500 one is the same. Its actually normally the freezer than has most risk of being left open as well, or in reality not quite closed when trying to ram some more stuff in :)

Ours starts beeping I guess about 1 minute after being opened just short of being enough time to put away a weeks groceries.
